I hear what you're saying. I should clarify what I thought was clear in my initial post that if one single quote is long, then devote a given post to that one quote alone (and of course, your comment to the quote to explain its relevance and why you see need to quote it).

Also, isn't it standard in academia that if a particular point covers only an area of a quote, that [...] replaces a segment of the quote? Pasting a large quote when [...] could replace irrelevant segments is a discipline that extends courtesy to the reader, I always thought.
