American rights are going going gone
I want to begin by saying that I am an American
born and raised on Long Island, New York. I also want to say that I love this
country not that I need to reaffirm that or that I am insecure, but there are
many Americans that wear the patriotic American costume and appear to be
patriotic Americans, but they really aren't. I am sure that some people will
read this and get angry that I am questioning their patriotism to which I say
grow up and if the shoe fits, wear it. I don't intend to target any specific
person, but I DO intend to highlight some issues that threaten the very
foundation that the United States is built on. I suspect that the stronger the
objection to what I have to say the more sensitive the nerve I have struck is.
I am not writing this to make friends.
I was born in the early 1960's and I grew up with
the cold war, the Vietnam war and the big lie of the hippie generation. I have
to admit that as a young person I trusted people and that people had mine and
America's best interest in mind. As an adult I learned that many people
are really very selfish did not have either mine or Americas best
interest in mind. Fairytales are very nice and most people would like to live
in a utopian paradise and a utopian society was advertised everywhere, on the
television, in the music, in print and much more.
Now after 40 years it is obvious to some people
that the great American social experiment failed miserably. Fairytales are
great for young children and many adults too, but they are not real and can
never be made real. Many people, even ones that appreciate fairy tales and
long to live in utopia, have matured and understand that the great American
social experiment failed.
The founders of the United States understood that
the freedom that was hard won and paid for with the blood of many is also an
ongoing fight that is threatened constantly.
The biggest threat of all that the American people
will face is from the government and that is the primary reason why I believe
the 2nd. amendment about gun ownership was added. The founding fathers
understood that government has a basic desire to control it's people and total
control requires that the general population must be disarmed. If the
government is the only entity to possess weapons then total domination of the
people is possible. The founding fathers were not in any way advocating
violence and it designed a country to be run by the people and they wanted it
to stay that way.
The founding fathers of the United States also did
not want the U.S. government to impose its will on the people by owning all
the property. They limited government's authority to seize personal property
for PUBLIC purposes only and they must pay a FAIR price for it.
This is not the country that the founders and many
other people fought and died to build and maintain. That is the reason
why America seems to be dysfunctional. The Supreme court and many of the lower
courts took an oath to uphold the constitution of the United States and its
rulings must be based on the constitution, NOT on foreign law or contrived
U.S. constitutional law and if a U.S. foundation can't be found then the
option exists to refuse review or recommend that congress pass a U.S. law.
It would be nice to live in a utopian world where
everything is perfect, but that world does not exist. Also America is a
resident of the world neighborhood. A rather large and strong resident, but a
resident nonetheless. Like in a real neighborhood not all families are the
same and they should not be. Each family's circumstance is different and
looking to other families for some guidance is fine, but a complete copy is
wrong. On the other hand expecting every other family in the neighborhood to
copy your ways is also very wrong. America must find its own way and not feel
bad about it.
I really hope America wakes up and smells
the coffee before it disintegrates like many other great societies.
