Attack Again?

The attack on The World Trade Center was devastating and the impact will be felt for many years to come.

In the decade of the 1990’s America’s premiere military and intelligence were decimated and massive resources were redirected from public defense to the private sector. The permissive logic of society allowed the selfishness of the “me” generation to rise up to become a visible and powerful driving force that promoted the financial insanity that marked the end of the decade. While Americans were obsessing over the perceived thickness of their wallets terrorists were plotting against us.

Whatever the reason there is a group, just a group, of Arabs that truly hate Americans. Surely there are other groups in the world that hate Americans, but the largest and most obvious is the group of Arabs that hate Americans. There are many groups that don’t like Americans and the Arabs are the most visible at the moment, but Arabs are not the only ones and they will not be the last.

The Arabs hit us in 1993, but they didn’t seem to achieve their goal of collapsing the Twin Towers. They laid relatively low and hit other targets around the world and waited until the Americans got complacent again. As is typical of Americans complacency and selfishness returned as expected and then lo and behold we got hit again.

I gain no joy in the tragedy and I am very concerned that it will happen again. Complacency is returning.
