July 7 2004 I was hit by a man driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck as I was trying to cross Montauk Highway here in East Moriches. I waited for the traffic light and insured that the traffic on Montauk Highway was stopping before I proceeded. My recollection of what happened was that the man driving the pickup was impatient and did not want to wait for me, as I walk quite slowly. I was struck by the front of the truck near the right side. I was about half way through the intersection. That means that he was primarily in the oncoming lane when he struck me.
It is almost a week later and I am still sore and I have back, neck and shoulder pain. My right arm still feels broken although the initial X-rays of my shoulder did not show any breakage or dislocation. I was treated at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital after being brought there by the East Moriches Ambulance and released, but not before my Aunt and my Sister insisted that a CAT scan of my brain was taken.
Due to my neurological condition before my legs had very little functionality so I depended heavily on my upper body and mobility was a major issue. Now with one arm useless regarding mobility, mobilty issues now are critical. Hopefully I will regain some use of my right arm and regain a little bit of mobility.
