X Liberty
So the flopstars finally got a name they can call their own. It was a good job we have been looking after them since the judgment in January, since it was a tip off from us that enabled them to clear the way for the new name.
Two weeks ago we found out that there was another group called Liberty X and did the nice thing and tipped off the V2 group's lawyers, before they jumped from the frying pan into the fire (lightning striking once was unfortunate - twice would have been a bit embarrassing).
They've obviously gone about things the right way this time, because the other band have dropped their name, since we alerted V2 and its band to the other band's existence. It's none of our business how things have been sorted out, of course, but the industry has long recognised that a deal can always be done over a name, if the existing band is willing. Maybe the other Liberty X didn't have quite the same history with and commitment to their name as we do.
We wish ex-Liberty, sorry Liberty X, the best of luck with their further V2 releases.
