| RECON Man on a Mission Not much is known about the mysterious and enigmatic leader of Liberty Force. What has come to be known has been pieced together from various fragments of information from a multitude of sources. It is known that Recon is not from earth as it is known now. He hails from a future earth and quite possibly a parallel dimension or alternate universe. He is known to be a soldier, a hunter, a leader, and perhaps even a savior. It is known that Recon has a knowledge of various historical events past and present. From his acquaintances from the Vietnam War, to strange enemies from a far-off future. His background can only be explained by temporal means, and Recon's technology obviously included some form of dimensional or time travel. Recon seems to have had many a lifetime of experiences and perhaps there is much more to him than even Liberty Force knows. It is known that Recon appeared suddenly in the twentieth century, at a time when the world was beginning to see the start of an explosion in super-powered beings. He appeared, in a dimensional rift in a small run-down neighborhood of Washington D.C. The rift poured in radiation from Recon's own world where the earth had been completely irradiated. This surge of rare, high RAD radiation went through the neighborhood and killed or affected many innocent people. It was more unfortunate casualties in the never-ending war that surrounded Recon. Or perhaps, there was a reason why Recon opened a rift in this particular neighborhood. Working alone, Recon appeared to be acting for some hidden agenda. Recon started gathering information about the current world heroes and villains and systematically manipulated and controlled events from behind the scenes. At some point in his career, Recon was a top-secret operative for the US government and was a lead member in many "black ops". He seemed to have a military background as he was often referred to as Colonel. However, his talents and skills went far beyond anything that any government could produce and his career was often in question and it was unclear whether or not he was a rogue agent. In any case, Recon made many enemies as well as friends in his twentieth century occupation as special agent. Eventually he would work closely with the CIA, NSA, SHIELD, and even the Weapon X Program. On one mission he was conducting in Baltimore, he was tracking agents of AIM and HYDRA when he had a surprise discovery of a secret underground headquarters that was to be the launching pad for terrorist acts on the US. Recon knew what he had to do and a viscious battle ensued. The result was a huge explosion of an underground gas line that destroyed a home of an innocent middle-class family. Again, more casualties that Recon seemed to have caused. More reckless destruction, or was there a different reason? At this battle, Recon captured an agent known as the Taskmaster. Recon "persuaded" the Taskmaster into turning into one of Recon's moles. At this point Recon decided he was ready for the next stage of his plans. He would need his own team and in order to do this it would require some strategic planning. But that was what Recon excelled in. First he used his information gathered from his government connections to find potential candidates. His own mutant detection abilities, along with his data sources would allow him to pick the best of the best in super-powered beings. Most important was the wanted a team of members who operated like him, quickly and with deadly precision. Recon knew he would need a couple of captains in order to recruit and train "expendables" that would be used on the front lines. He needed ruthless individuals. He contacted the Taskmaster, who had just gained a new recruit who had great potential. It was clear to Recon that the recruit was very powerful but also had a weakness to radiation. Recon having identified this rare radiation, Recon ensured that he could keep the recruit's weakness safe. Using his connections, Recon started a string of events that would allow his contacts at SHIELD to capture and train the recruit. Later Recon zeroed in on another potential recruit who had great potential. Delving into the recruit's background, Recon saw that this recruit had potential but lacked motivation and knowledge of his own possibilities. However after the parents of the recruit were "accidentally" killed in a gas explosion, the recruit seemed motivated to do more than play football. He was also motivated by greed, and using his network of agents, Recon made sure that the recruit got the right financial tips (from a future stock market of course) and this primed the recruit for success. Recon then appeared as a recruit himself into a pre-arranged mold that he had created in this Liberty Force. The two captains, Valor and Lock-On were ruthless and deadly and certain events in their life had made them seem destined to be heroes. However, for a time-traveler such as Recon, Destiny is the residue of design. |
