Subject: Bears and Cougers and Wolves oh my!!!

I spend a great deal of time in the woods armed with nothing but a camera and canoe.  I have  seen browse areas stripped clean, dead moose, deer, and bear carcasses floating in the water each spring. Why, because of deep winter snow, over population, and lack of food..
I'm sorry, but I can't support a group raised on the wilderness ideals of Walt Disney.  The Spring bear hunt was cancelled in Ontario. Now its not uncommon to find black bears, in the middle of the day, trying to dodge traffic and get across Highway 11 on a long weekend. Black bears prowling dumps and cottage areas night and day, looking for food, the family pet, or one of your children. If Disneyites get their way in Ontario, the 50 million dollars you say goes back into "bloodsport", which you know is a lie, and is actually used for the redevelopment of everything
from wetlands to deer feed in the winter, will have to come from the pockets of the Disneyites (I'm sure that's gonna happen soon but I wouldn't hold my breath).
Cougars have not been hunted in Alberta parks for several of their generations, they now have no fear of man, and are stalking and killing their new prey. Wolves in Northern B.C. cut off from their normal source of food are now stalking dogs and humans. People have actually been followed by Wolves and Cougars, and some are now finding half their dog at the bottom of the yard, feet from where their children play.
When you people are actually DOING something to prevent this over population and ugly winterkill by something other than starvation, I may reconsider my thinking.
Until then, I would not wander around the over populated Bear area of Gravenhurst/Bracebridge at night, unless you are armed.. Oh wait a minute.. that's not legal either..
Enjoy your walk...
