Afraid To Be Involved? Unfortunately for our sport, there are still some that don't want to become 'politically involved'. Also unfortunately, our sport is the 'only' sport in Canada that is COMPLETELY controlled by politics.
Shooters, clubs, and other firearms related organizations and businesses that are afraid of political involvement are only giving the Coalition for Gun Control the smug satisfaction of victory, and the ability to continue the 'political' lobbying that will eventually take your firearms away completely. The U.K. has already arrived at this point, Australia is 80% complete, and we are next. If you are NOT part of the solution, then you ARE part of the problem.
The final 'clean-up' amnesty is under way in the U.K. where they are requesting (read demanding) that ALL firearms, replicas, blank pistols, and weapons of all kind be turned over to the authorities in the name of 'crime control'. We already know how many criminals will be turning in their guns! Australia is currently debating the most economical way for the government to confiscate ALL semi automatic pistols. In Canada, they won't have that problem, they will just ban them and confiscate them. After all, we have no constitutional property rights do we! Firearms manufacturers are virtually non existent in this country, as well as ammunition manufacturers. The government need only ban the importation of ammunition and components to decimate the sporting industry. Of course, this will create an incredible, uncontrollable, black market for firearms and ammunition, and require even more laws to collect what ever weapons are left in the hands of the law abiding. Government ignorance has put them well on the way to that final goal now.
Waiting for 'others' to take up the fight, and bear all the flak for you is the cowards way out. If you don't have the balls to fight for your sport, then you might as well call the RCMP and have them pick up your guns right now, because you don't deserve to keep them. And, Don't you dare give me platitudes about how your bringing new people 'into' the sport, when that sport may very well vanish because of your political fears and inaction.
The government is on the ropes as far as the registry in concerned, and shortly they will have to appear before parliament, hat in hand, for another 113 MILLION dollars beyond the 59 MILLION dollars they just received. If you are one of the groups, clubs, organizations, or businesses that don't want to take a 'political' stand. Which by the way, IS the only stand available in the survival of a sport that is totally politically controlled. Then don't expect those that are fighting, to support either you, or your organization.
Remember, if the Liberals win this fight, YOU LOSE! And you have nobody to blame but yourself.
