Background; A message was posted on the
firearms digest, asking for input from firearms owners of exactly what
their personal 'bottom line' would be as acceptable law regarding
firearms. The Original email is posted below:

Subject: Help with answers please
I am assisting a "friend" in trying to compile some information. I am
hoping that you will all take a few moments to assist me in this, since it
is information that has been much discussed by everyone in the RFC (and
many NOT in the RFC). I will of course share results with everyone - but
I'm hoping for a considerable response from across the country in
this. There are five (5) specific questions at the end of this email that
I am seeking responses to. Any additional comments would also be welcome
but please respond to all five questions.
Please reply to my direct email at: [email protected]
Also feel free to forward this email to others you think may be interested.
as I am trying to target as large a cross section of people as possible.
Here's a brief bit of comment from my friend along with the five questions
I am hoping "everyone" will reply to me on.
The suggestion put to me was, is, that Martin and his "people' will
relegate the firearms registry to his minister of justice and let him/her
decide what the future of it is to be.
OK, where does that leave long gun registration and the privacy issues
related to it? I see it, (IF, IF, Martins government can get elected, as a
majority, a bigger IF than most realize) as a slight chance, slight, but
better than we had under ChrE9tien, to get changes.
So we can expect an objective analysis of the cost versus the payoff, and
read this to mean the political fallout of keeping it vis a vis dropping it.
So I sort of agreed to drop, stop, openly criticizing the Liberals once
more, for a while, in return for an objective review of the firearms issues
and other privacy issues.
I am trying to get a deal with Martins support staff, a commitment to
review the following:
"We want the long gun registry scrapped and no more funding for the program"
My, our, offer is to stop criticizing Martin, the Liberals in return.
After all the talking, I still have no idea where our bottom line is, what
do we want, and not want, leave out reverting to a totally open market with
anyone getting a firearm without a reason, and a safety course, and permit.
Even I would not go for that. I need, want, a sort of list, objectives, a
target to shoot for, and not the sky either.
Linda, can you poll your group(s) and see what we would settle for
please? (Kooky replies are fine but "settle" should not be as a gun kook
who wants everything, we simply cannot get everything we want.)
1. What kind of license?
2. Who may qualify for ownership?
3. Safe storage law will stay as is, is that OK?
4. Any other issue you can add here.
5. What about registration, what to do with existing data if it is dropped?
I would like to have an agenda before, say, February or March 2004 at the
latest. Want to help?
Linda
P.S. I hope to have as many replies as possible compiled before the end of
this year.

A question was raised on the digest: Who are you? and who
is this mysterious friend you are compiling information for? Firearms
owners, having been deceived and lied to by various officials within
our government are rightfully a little 'gun shy' of requests such as
this. The answer to this concern is posted below:

Subject: Survey
This is long, but I hope you will take the time to read it.
I recognize many of you have a problem with me (a LONG time member of the
RFC) doing a survey. You doubt not only the mentor I am involved with, but
also "MY" motives for whatever reasons. There have been numerous postings
to the digest.
I will attempt to respond to ALL the recent posts with this ONE post. Not
to be rude, but I have no intention of responding to each and every
post. That would be a "waste" of everyone's time (time is of the essence
right now politically). So NO - no debate - no getting embroiled in back
and forth senseless chatter. I - a member of the RFC - is doing a very
simple survey. That's it. If you don't want to respond - that's your
choice. But remember that the more responses I get - the better it is for
the RFC community. THAT is a given. Any and all efforts to change the
Firearms Act should be encouraged.
Many of you have spent more time and effort in the last week "objecting to
MY survey" than you have in objecting to the Firearms Act. Once again -
the RFC is "totally disjointed and scattered". Perhaps - there has been a
plant who deliberately sets the RFC off in this manner. "Keep 'em
disorganized and they won't cause any problems and won't see what's
coming." Some of you just can't seem to see beyond your own noses. You
are wasting much time in disputing my survey when that time could be spent
on far more advantageous purposes (letters, taking to local MP's, etc.).
Once again - yes the person I am consulting with IS anonymous and MUST
remain so. On the other hand "I" am NOT anonymous. Many of you know of
the YEARS I have been involved in this. You know of the court cases I have
been 'successfully" involved in. You know of the FED UP II BC Rally that I
organized. Some of you know I do NOT put my trust lightly.
I often refer this anonymous person as my "political mentor" since I have
learned SO MUCH about politics, the elites, all the ins and outs of
backroom (cocktail hour?) deals and connections. Face it - like it or not
this IS how it works. You can also bet your last dollar on the fact that
the Feds don't really want you knowing this stuff. But denying it won't
change anything, so why not LEARN about it, and then "USE the system
itself" when one wants to make changes? I saw this years ago thanks to my
mentor. Also saw the NFA mess years ago and tried my best to warn people -
including those right here on this digest. Well, I was shot down many
times over my comments regarding the NFA. Spare a moments thought for how
my mentor could be 'persecuted' if the feds got wind of what's happening.
If you want to learn more about the "elites" and the system, there is a
three (or four?) volume set of books called "The Canadian Establishment" by
Peter C. Newman. You should be able to find them in your local library. I
must warn you though that they are very large, thick books. The actual
titles are:
1) The Canadian Establishment - Volume One
2) The Acquisitors - The Canadian Establishment - Volume Two
3) Titans: How the new Canadian establishment seized power - The Canadian
Establishment - Volume Three
You learn a lot just with the first volume. I had already learned quite a
bit from my mentor (who actually used to be on the digest at one time years
back and tried to teach and warn people even then. Not many took heed - too
many like DAT and Kearns shooting everyone down that did not agree with
'their word' as gospel.) (You'd best wonder what DAT got out of all this.)
In my case - I listened, I learned and am STILL learning, and I recognized
and accepted the truth for what it was. I started corresponding privately
with my mentor all those years back and have continued all this time. BUT
- - my mentor is not the only one. There arre also others who gave up on the
digest rhetoric, and others who chose to correspond privately instead of
through the digest. We have exchanged likely thousands of emails over the
years. I have learned much in these past years (since my first battles in
the courts over firearms).
My mentor's identity cannot be revealed. The impact would be too
great. You know we have a lot of government folk monitoring the digest who
would just love to get their hands on the info being gathered and use it in
their own nefarious ways. They already have all kinds of polls and surveys
but they would still like to know what we (my mentor and me) are up
to. It's cutthroat and backstabbing in the world of politics.
Well, suffice to say that you can ask ANYTHING of me - I am open as a book
and have been around this forum a long time. If people have a problem with
my mentor's identity - then they are not looking beyond their own paranoia
- - because the person "asking" the questionns is ME. "I" am gathering the
information. If you have a problem trusting me with the answers to
questions you have each made pulbic to many already - and when I have never
steered anyone wrong - well again - that's your own paranoia. It will be
the RFC that will suffer in the long run if I can't take this to the next
stage. Politically - the time is NOW. The questions have never been
answered, and are long overdue.
So I ask that all biases and paranoia be put aside - and that people answer
five simple questions, for ME - who is not anonymous and who you do know -
having been around the RFC and fighting the battles for many years.
As for whether my approach will work or not - only time will tell - but it
surely shouldn't be a problem for people to answer five simple questions.
Golly gee.... ya think maybe we can actually get this digest back to what
it used to be... normal firearms conversations and sharing information...
instead of bickering and complaining without actually doing things that
will "make a difference"... hmmmmmmm....
Doubting Thomas's does apply. I have no doubt you have told your barber or
hairdresser, your friends at the club or competitions, and likely any
number of other people your "opinion" on what you think should be
done. Yet it seems there is such a problem to send it to one single person
(me) whose intention is to try to compile all the replies into one cohesive
answer that ALL of us can then use.
Sure - there ARE many answers - even to those five little questions. But
have any of YOU chosen to try to turn that into something we can all live
with? This is the problem. NONE of you have. You listen to each other,
and talk to each other, and the comments go round and round to those that
are "already" converted. WHAT is the point in that?
I'm proposing to actually DO something. I COULD go through the very public
archives of the digest and likely determine the answers just from previous
postings you have all done. I choose not to do that as it is much quicker
(and time is currently of the essence), to simply ASK YOU to send me an
email with an answer to five little questions.

I will be sending 'my' answers to 'the 5
questions' I hope 'you' will too.. If there is a backdoor, and
someone who has the ability to open it, I for one would like to see it
used. The 'front' door obviously does NOT work!
