Welcome back to school. We are going to begin our school year by discussing a few different areas of study that will enable every student to become more civically minded and to make decisions that will allow everyone to learn and feel safe at school.
As a class, we will develop a classroom discipline plan where everyone has an opportunity to learn. We will discuss what a respectful teacher should look like and the qualities that the students would like to see in their teacher. We will also discuss what a respectful and helpful student looks like. As a class, we will create guidelines that will help all of us to achieve those qualities that we have chosen as being admirable.
We will also discuss the pillars of character that Red Hawk Elementary School supports. Each month a pillar will take an important role in our classroom.
The first few weeks of school are vital to building a classroom family unit and the proceedures for the classroom activities. During this time we will do many team building activities that will bring everyone closer together and learn to work well with one another. Problem solving techniques are highly stressed and practiced during class meeting on a daily basis. Students will learn to solve problems that may arise without causing greater conflict. They will also learn to bring isuues to class meeting that they were not able to solve on their own.
I am really looking forward to a new year. Throughout the year I try to update my website often to help you stay informed. Within the website, I also try to incorporate extra activities that the students may enjoy doing outside of class. I look forward to getting to know my new parents and getting reacquainted with my veteran parents. This is going to be a great year of adventures.
