Rendition Verite V2x00 overclocking
A gentleman from EntechTaiwan told me that the parameter-values
(M, N, SCLKP, MCLKP) previously posted were incorrect. The 12/25/97
revision of this document contained parameters which are outside
the range of legal values for the Rendition's PLL. I've corrected
the sample verite.ini excerpt below.
(Fortunately, the base clock-frequency (MHz) formula is accurate,
so if you were using an older set of "illegal" PLL parameters,
your card was still operating at the frequency you expected.)
You should check Bjorn's site
for some extra goodies, like a little Visual Basic program that
helps you calculate the proper parameters for a given clock-speed,
and a place to pick up a small heatsink/fan for your overclocked
card.
Below is a text-file (verite.ini
) you must create
in your \WINDOWS
directory. Copy the following excerpt
into the file :
;-----------------------------
[display]
m=40
n=5
SClkP=2
MClkP=1
;-----------------------------
; save the above as "verite.ini"
; in your c:\windows\ directory.
;
; Changes to "verite.ini" take
; effect the NEXT TIME you restart your computer!
;
; Memory speed = 14.318*m/(n*MClkP) MHz
; Engine speed = 14.318*m/(n*SClkP) MHz
;
;SGRAM/Engine m n SClkP MClkP
; MHz / MHz
; 100 / 50 35 5 2 1
; 103 / 52 36 5 2 1
; 106 / 53 37 5 2 1
; 109 / 54 38 5 2 1
; 112 / 56 (caution) 39 5 2 1

; Good luck

; Ruan"
; The highest I could go without any artifacts was 118/59 33 2 4 2. I
; benched the Stealth quickly with GLQuake. Without the o/c and with an
; empty autoexec.cfg I got 30 fps at 512x384 and 21.5 fps at 640x480
; (Timedemo demo2 - heapsize 32000, -nosound -nojoy(. With the o/c I got
; 39.1 fps at 512x384 and 27.7 fps at 640x480 (timedemo demo 2 etc.).
; Almost 30% improvement in both timedemo's. And it was smooth, no
; jerkiness or slowdowns.
