complementary cosmic forces manifested in such phenomena as
darkness and light, femal and male, moisture and dryness, soft and
hard. The terms appear infrequently as a pair in such texts as the
"Book of History" (700 v.Chr.), "Book of Change" (1000 v.Chr.). In
cosmology Yin - Yang combine Qi, or vital energy; also souls, spirits,
