| This page shall be devoted to my CONLANG (constructed language) called Brsanddar. It is one of many related languages spoken by the Children of as -Elves - who inhabit the fantasy world I have long been at work on. My influences for this CONLANG come from all directions. I am a lover of sounds and have taken those sounds that I find to be most appealing, as well as those that best portray meaning, for this tongue. I've studied many languages over the years and have more often taken grammar from these rather than any sort of root words. I have always had an afinity for the Welsh system of phonetic spelling and use that mostly in writing Brsanddar; there are some sounds that defy this system however and I will do my best to explain both the Welsh and other methods of phonetics. Having studied several case languages, I have no great love for them and so have chosen to opt for a stricter word order in Brsanddar. One language that struck me as grammaticaly minimalistic, and marvelous therefore, was Mandarin Chinese and so I have taken to using "markers" to represent tense as well as such things like posession and the concept of with. Concerning verbs, I'm still debating whether or not to bother with conjugation. I see conjugation as a thing of the past and if minimalism and simplicity have ruled over the rest of grammar, why not the same with verbs? We have personal pronouns, why not use those and always the same root verb form. The greatest boon with case endings and conjugation are their natural rhyming ability. With languages that should be as sing-songy and beautiful - or terrible - as Elvish, this is not something to give up lightly. I appologize for the copious amounts of fluff and lack of meat and potatos in this introduction. I shall endeavor to streamline and add to the value of this site. As soon as I figure out how to add a database link I shall have a basic lexicon up. In the meantime I'll try and post a collection of sounds/pronunciation guide for Brsanddar.
