Sophomore Kevon Pierre (Stoney Grove, Nevis/ Charlestown/ Morgan State) (left & right) picked up wins in both the men's 100 and 200-meter dashes. He finished the 100 in 10.88 seconds, and clocked in at 21.60 seconds in the 200 meters (Wind speeds were -5.9 (100m) and -3.7 (200m) unofficially). Kevon defeated Roy Bailey (of Carifta Games fame) in both sprints. At the recent Gatorade Track & Field Invitational, he blazed a time of 21.22s, into a 1.0 m/s headwind. In the process, he established a new Florida International University Record, running the fastest ever 200m for that school. He missed the NCAA Regional qualifying time for the 200m by 3/100th of a sec.

Kevon Pierre won Gold and set a new Personal Best in the 200m at the Gatorade Track & Field Invitational blazing 21.22s, into a 1.0 m/s headwind. In the process, he established a new Florida International University Record, running the fastest ever 200m for that school. The previous record was set in 2002 by Jean Byron with 21.28s. Kevon ran in Heat 1 (out of 6 heats) with 30 competitors overall.

Kevon also ran a solid 100m in 10.57s, winning his heat (#2 of 5) comfortably and placing 4th overall out of 34 competitors. He missed the NCAA Regional qualifying time for the 100m by 7/100th of a sec, and the 200m by 3/100th of a sec. Kevon should now be ranked #6 in the 100m and #4 in the 200m for the Sun Belt Conference.

1/03/04   Kevon Pierre (FIU) placed 3rd in his 55m Heats in 6.45s, qualifying for the Finals of the Sun Belt Champs (27-28 Feb), with the 8th best time overall (out of 30). In the finals Kevon ran 6.69s placing 11th overall (out of 12).  Marty Scales of Middle Tennessee won in 6.34s. In the 200m heats, he placed 2nd in Heat 3 (of 5 Heats) in 22.07s, qualifying for the Finals with the 10th best time overall (out of 23). In the finals, he ran 22.11s placing 11th overall (out of 18).  Marty Scales of Middle Tennessee won in 21.00s

The Florida International University men's indoor track & field team has thrived under first year head coach Steve Rubin, with at least one Golden Panther setting a school record in each of their three indoor meets. Junior Kevin Timothee,
sophomore transfer Kevon Pierre and freshman Antwan Barnes have emerged to lead the sprint corps. Timothee broke the school record in the 55 meters in successive meets, and with a personal-best time of 6.31 seconds ranks, among the top five in the conference in that event. Pierre and Barnes rank among the top 10 in the 55, while Pierre has led FIU in the 200 meters. Finishing in 22.04 seconds at the Gator Invitational, he was just .01 seconds off the school record.

Kevon Pierre (of Nevis and Florida International University) competed at the TIGER INVITATIONAL  held at Clemson University in South Carolina.  In the 60 metre sprint, he placed first in Heat No. 3 with a time of 6.92s, and 11th overall (out of 43 athletes in 6 heats).  In the 200 metres, Kevon placed 1st in heat #3 with a time of 22.18s and 6th overall (out of 39 competitors in 12 heats).  Kevon's next meet will be at the Sun Belt Conference Championship at Murfreesboro, Tennessee on February 28/29.
