CHRONOLOGY:
First Night: Saturday
Rumors of the Keeper of Elysium's arrest are confirmed when Prince Dominique publicly convicts and executes him at her evening Elysium soiree. The onlookers are perturbed. The Seneschal is discovered to be missing as of Wednesday. Several Kindred complain of dry, itching skin which begins to crack and bleed. As the Dusk 'Til Dawn bar, a vampire terrifies a mortal, who flees; he is pursued by several Kindred, but he exhibits strange powers over plants and manages to escape. He reappears later and is threatened by the crowd, but Dominique and the Sheriff, Eldritch, take him away for questioning. He reveals his name as Hal. Inquiries are made into the disappearance of Kindred three years ago as linked to a pharmaceutical company, Quio Bio-Technologies.
The Prince is in Montpelier on business; two newcomers proclaim themselves Prince and Sheriff, respectively, although they hand power over to Eldritch, upon his arrival at the Palace. The infected Kindred are still suffering from bleeding skin. Cars - including the Prince's - are marked "Parkt Rong" with traffic cones and car boots. News is brought of two vampires killed on the edge of town by Lupines; the one survivor is perturbed but no one else seems to care. A Catholic priest and a drunk bum are ghouled and sent home.
The Prince returns, bringing news of a Lupine attack on Colchester which killed several Kindred. Two Kindred are deputized by the Sheriff. A vampire tells the Elysium gathering that he believes the Seneschal was kidnapped in an armored truck marked "Perishables," later seen driving towards Rte. 122. A badly burned Toreador speaks privately to the Prince before leaving in a bad mood. Hal is seen again and chased across a swamp; he only escapes when an armored truck marked "Perishables" spirits him away. A woman with a black eye, Zoe, staggers into the Palace, giving all the vampires a peculiarly invigorating feeling. Dominique and Dr. Diana Rein take her away: she may be perturbed, but she's not telling. The diseased Kindred are still diseased.
A man at NVRH, Steve Young, is mysteriously cured of lymphoma. The vampire Vaughn is accused of burning down Elliott's Greenhouse and is punished by the Prince. Small red goblin-like creatures begin appearing out of thin air, attacking vampires, and vanishing again: it is speculated they are creatures of the Umbra. A Brujah, Axel, kills a mortal child and is arrested, along with some friends, but is freed by Toni Giovanni. Axel later dies while trying to push a car into the police station. Toni and Dios Giovanni arrange a meeting between Zoe and Hal, with the Prince watching. The Giovanni are later arrested for breaking the Masquerade by ripping off the head of a man at NVRH. The man was perturbed, but briefly.
Toni is freed; Dios later escapes. A new Seneschal (Noah West) and Keeper (David) are appointed. Picketers, all of them perturbed, protest the supposed existence of a sweatshop within the Palace and are led on a tour by the Prince to disprove this. Most of them are caught in a surprise quarantine of the building. Dr. Rein announces research results to a Kindred meeting: that Hal has mutated blood, Type A, also found in Steve Young and the infected vampires, and that Zoe has differently mutated blood, Type B, which reacts badly with Type A. The Miss Vermont Diner is burned down. Dr. Rein and Finn Hunter-Staker are seen fighting; the former is taken away by Dominique and the latter is released with a warning. A bloodhunt is called on Toni and Dios. The red goblins continue to attack.
The Palace is still under quarantine, and the Kindred have relocated temporarily. The Prince is out of the town for the night. Toni and Dios are summoned to the new Palace: they arrive with nine zombies. Toni is staked and executed, and the zombies are destroyed, while Dios escapes. Toni's ghost is perturbed. A car is crashed into the door of the Palace. Arachne, Finn, and Mono are charged with conspiring with the condemned Giovanni but are freed with warnings. A Dishonorable Combat is conducted between Finn and Vaughn; the latter wins.
The Prince has returned, but the Palace is still under quarantine. Several new Kindred arrive in town, of various clans. A Gangrel, Orion, goes to Axel's former residence with his ghoul, Trent, and a Brujah, Ian. They find an armored truck marked "Perishables," capture a werewolf, and return to the Palace; on the Prince's command the werewolf is slain. One of the red goblins is captured; another is killed. Hal appears once again, is told of the existence of vampires, and is shown the werewolf: he is greatly perturbed.
The Elysium returns to the old Palace. The Prince reminds her people of the laws against breaching the Masquerade. Two more goblins appear and are killed. David is removed from his position as Keeper of the Elysium and stripped of status; Jillian is appointed in his place. David is perturbed, and leaves town. More goblins appear and are killed or disappear. Hal comes to the Palace and is closeted away with Dominique and Eldritch; when other Kindred attempt to join them they are shown out of the Palace.
Hal has been Embraced by the Prince and allies with the Kindred to stop Dr. Joel Frangere. A reconnaisance party goes to Quio, but is unable to get in. Jillian is revealed to be Toni Giovanni and is removed from her office as Keeper, and Mono is appointed. Ian and several others return to Darling Hill; Ian reveals his possession of a Lupine totem bracelet and calls the Lupines to retrieve it. The other Kindred are perturbed. There is a heated argument, interrupted by an unusually large goblin who attacks Ian, snatches the bracelet, and vanishes. Dominique and Eldritch organize an attack force and march upon Quio. Hal, who has disabled certain security systems, lets them in: they find themselves in a large room filled with cages, holding the missing Seneschal and an unknown man. Dr. Joel appears, injects himself with an unknown substance, and transforms into a horribly deformed creature. A fight ensues, during which it rains Gangrel, Hal learns the value of vampire blood-healing, and a bomb is crushed. Joel is killed. Lupines tear through the wall, kill the former Seneschal and snatch the unknown prisoner, snarl at the Kindred, and vanish into the woods. The Kindred return to Lyndonville, where they hold a brief discussion and Hal begins to kill plants.
The Quio-Bio laboratory and a chemical tanker truck have both disappeared from the face of the earth. During the Elysium meeting, a woman appears in a bolt of lightning. It is discovered that Djinneia is a vampire from twenty-three years in the future and has some knowledge of a world-altering war that killed thousands, shattered the Masquerade, and is due to begin in a few months, somewhere in northern New England. General perturbation all round. She does not know how she traveled through time or why - other than that her Archon sent her - or how to return, so she makes herself at home. Orion, Trent, and Iradh go to ex-Quio and meet up with Lupines; they kill one and escape the others, returning with a Lupine fetish. Hal acts peculiarly and finally comes into conflict with the Prince. He is arrested but is spirited off by an unknown rescuer. It is theorized that Lupine blood may be an antidote to the various diseases plaguing the Kindred; preliminary test results are encouraging.
Dominique warns that the Lupines they have fought are far from the strongest, and suggests that Kindred stay in town. She orders Hal to be found and brought to her alive. Larger and more powerful goblins begin attacking. Alexander, is arrested on suspicion of conspiring with Hal and others. He is perturbed. Jillian/Toni is seen fighting with Eldritch, and an unknown archer shoots burning arrows into Eldritch, Beatrice, and Malcolm. Malcolm dies, Jillian is subdued but freed, and Eldritch vanishes. Dominique fights with Hal and several other Kindred and is killed when her vehicle explodes. Vaughn declares himself Prince of Lyndonville and appoints a new Cabinet. There is discontent but no outright dissent.
. . .Or What We Will, and we Will that it's actually the. . .
Vaughn begins planning Lyndonville's defenses against the imminent Lupine attack. To that end, he declares martial law and deputizes certain Kindred, giving them the right to ignore the Traditions if necessary. Vaughn, Hal, and Beatrice have a discussion which rapidly deteriorates into violence. Beatrice ends up drinking from Hal and is released, and an eviscerated Vaughn declares Noah to be a Sabbat spy and calls a bloodhunt on him. A Gangrel new to town scribbles a message to the future with a jackhammer and the Palace's basement floor, and Djinneia abruptly reveals that in the future Hal becomes the founder of a new clan, the Ciotsu, and takes over the Sabbat. Saying that she was sent back to kill him, she leads a mob to the Palace and calls for Hal, but is dragged inside. When she reappears, she apologizes for her actions, attributing them to a misunderstanding and Sabbat influences. News arrives of Lupines on the edge of town, apparently beginning an invasion.
The town is split between the supporters of Hal and Vaughn - the beginnings of the Ciotsu - and their rapidly-organizing opponents. The assistant to a Tremere archon reveals herself to the latter group and offers her help, and they create an emergency army of ghouls. A meeting is arranged between the Ciotsu and the other Kindred, permitting only three from each group. Both arrive with three visible Kindred and their other followers in Obfuscate. After a brief exchange, a fight breaks out. Stakes fly, Agg is dealt to various parts of human anatomy, and several Kindred turn into pincushions. Hal is killed. The space-time continuum is perturbed, resulting in an anomaly. Everyone else instantly finds themselves in front of the Palace, retaining all their memories but without ghouls, injuries, or Hal and Djinneia. Hal's followers lose their Ciotsu abilities and are reduced to being merely infected with Type B mutated blood. The Lupines soon break off their attack (therefore only partially devastating Lyndonville) and return to the woods, and the future predicted by Djinneia is changed.
