Fredrick Page (M) b. 13 January 1815, d. 29 December 1891
Fredrick Page [Work File.FTW]
Fredrick Page is listed in the North Carolina 1840 Census with wife and 4 children under 5 Listed again in the 1850 Gilmer County Georgia Census with wife and 9 children. This accounts for all nine children known but puts them in different order.
BIOGRAPHY: On July 16, 1863, in Fannin County after the death of a third son, Frederic Page enrolled in Captian Nat Mangum's Company, Gilmer Battallion, Commanded by Major D M West, for local defense in Fannin and Gilmer Counties and generally in the North quarter of Georgia.
Frederick Page, a Methodist, as born in North Carolina. By 1835, Frederic had married Margaret Rhoda Hathcock. He was of English descent with fair complexion and deep blue eyes.
Frederic Page was a friend to the Cherokees and did not help move them from their homeland. In 1840, Frederic Page and Rhoad were in Cherokee County, NC, which in 1800 was the western most part of Buncombe County. In 1846 or '47, they moved to Fighting town, which had been a Cherokee Indian village in 1820, in Gilmer County, GA. This area later became part of Fannin County. According to a story told by Enoch Page, a descendant, Frederic Page's family had a treacherous and dangerous journey when they came to Ga. trying to avoid bands of renegade indians. They traveled through mountain passes and over the mountains above the coulds in many instances.
Fredrick Page and his family came to Bartow County between 1864 and 1865. In a deed dated April 21, 1868, he purchased 160 acres, land lot 251 in the 5th district, 3rd section, from Levi Hefner for $800. This was the core of his farm on Bowen Road. A Civil War map of 1864 shos that there was a blacksmith's shop on the property during the War. In the next few years, he purhased property bordering on the north and east. His son William Barnett Page purchased 60 acres to the north of Frederic's property. In 1870, Frederick Page, wife Rhoda, and their offspring Nancy Adline Mull and husand Daniel Bryson Mull and William Barnett Page and wife Martha Cabe Page were living in the Pine Lot P.O. area. Arta Matilda and Frank Meadows were living on a 240 acre farm that Art and her sister Rhoda S. purchased from W. R. Brookshire in 1869.
When Frederic Page died, he left his estate to his wife Rhoda, except "one fine bedstead and spring matrass, with an entire outit, bureau and washstand, one female yearling one year old color black white spotted, one large mettle trunk, to my great granddaughter, Rhoda Mulls (who was living with the Pages) if she lives until she is twenty one year old if she marries it is to be hers.. ." Another family story says that the truck was filled with Confederate money and gold bars, but when Frederick died and the truck was opened, it was empty.
William Barnett Page and Frederick Monroe Page were executors of their father's will that was dated Feb 14, 1891. Rhoda Page, the widow of Frederick, left Bartow County on April 28, 1898 on a train from Adairsville, Georgia to Randolph, Texas where she lived with her son until her death, February 14, 1905. Frederick Monroe was to bring his mother back for burial at the Page Cemetery on Bowen Road in Bartow Co. Georgia, but he died a week before she did.
Fredrick Page is listed in the North Carolina 1840 Census with wife and 4 children under 5 Listed again in the 1850 Gilmer County Georgia Census with wife and 9 children. This accounts for all nine children known but puts them in different order.
He was confirmed at Page Cem., Bowen Rd., Bartow.
He married Margaret Rhoda Hathcock.
Fredrick Page was born on 13 January 1815.
He died on 29 December 1891 at Pine Log, Georgia, at age 76.

BIOGRAPHY: Adline Page Mull told this story to her grandchildren: "During the War, when the Yankee foragers began to sift down on us, Pa decided to kill all the meat and hide it in the swamp. He did not want to--but he had to. So we had a hog-killing and packed the choice meat in tubs. Sister Rhoda Saphronia and I hid the small tubs down by the old beaver dame, but one big tub was so heavy we waited for a wagon to help us. We hid it best we could in the plum orchard. A big fat corporal with a nasty dog found it. The corporal marched away with our choice meat. We followed him, oungue lashing him every step. When he reahed the footlog over a creek he had to cross, his pals were out of sight. Rhoada Saphronia ran up behind him and at midstream knocked the tub off his head into the creek. He god mad, cussed us and ran off. We saved the mat from the creek."
