About the Band
Welcome to the official homepage
of the LaVergne High School Band! The
bands directors are Michael Morjal, director of bands, and Edward Freytag,
assistant director. This will be the second year for Mr. Freytag at LHS. This
will be Mr.
Morjal's third year as director of bands at LHS but he has been actively
involved in the program since 1990 as a student, staff member, and now as
director. In the fourteen years the school has been open, the band has won
numerous awards and contests in Tennessee and Kentucky including four MCI
Mayor's Cup trophies. LHS Band is one of only two bands to win the trophy
four times, and the only band to win it in back to back years on two separate
occasions. We were also one of only 10 high schools to get superior
ratings at the MTSBOA Mid-State festival this year and the only school to
get superior ratings that took two different bands. Our members succeed
individually, also taking part in prestigious honor bands.
