PTSA Meeting 3/12/03
- Attendees: Joe Silveria, Ronald Horii, Lore Osaki-Horii, Chris Funk,
Karen Jolly, Cary Catching, Chris Heller, Denise Sullivan, Susie Pierson,
Sue Suttle, Jan Finger, Nancy Davenport, Michele Burchfiel Wagner
- Meeting began at 7:45.
- We reviewed last month's meeting minutes. Sue Suttle moved to approve
the minutes. Motion passed.
- Grad Night - Sue Suttle:
- We should have had 2 signatures on the Camelot Park contract.
- Ticket sales have been slow so far.
- Jan Finger needs 3 volunteers at lunch next Thursday for eggroll sales.
We have been selling 600 each time and have been selling out.
- For entertainment, there was a handwriting expert, who was a parent,
at Lynbrook High School's grad night and was a hit.
- Ron Horii has been in contact with a hypnotist. He can perform for
our grad night for about $500. He has experience performing for colleges
and high schools. Questions were raised about who can be hypnotized, should
parents be allowed to opt out, and if so, how will it be regulated?
- The hypnotist performed at an assembly at Natomas High School in Sacramento,
which helped boost their grad night ticket sales. If we want to do something
like there, there may be some time open for seniors at the end of April to
the first part of May for CAT6 testing. ASB may be able to pick up the bill.
- Jan Finger moved to allow the Grad Night Committee to decide on the
entertainment. Motion passed.
- Treasurer's Report: no change from last month
- Chris Funk - Mini-Grants
- Mr. Funk presented a form based on the Lincoln Foundation's grant proposal
form. (The Foundation will fund $1000 per department. 2 departments can join
up. They are no longer doing individual grants.)
- We reviewed the form and suggested some changes.
- Teachers need to return the form and attach receipts. The form should
say that receipts are required.
- The form can be put on the Lincoln web page.
- The proposed limit is $500 per teacher per school year.
- The Castillero form asked how many students are involved. They funded
$75/teacher/semester.
- Should we wait until next year? If we do next year, we can start at
the end of September and can plan ahead.
- Jan Finger moved to wait until September to start the grants. Motion
passed.
- Mr. Funk will try to put his presentation about the budget into a
letter to parents. It can also have an application for the PTSA or donations.
- The PTSA books must be closed by June 30.
- Nominating committee for next year's officers: Jan Finger, Chris Heller,
Chris Funk.
- Staff appreciation luncheon is on 6/18 at 12:30. Susie Pierson said
she could help.
- Meeting adjourned 8:45 pm.
- Next meeting April 10, 2003.
