PTSA Meeting 2/13/03

Attendees: Joe Silveria, Carol Silveria, Ronald Horii, Lore Osaki-Horii,
Chris Funk, Karen Jolly, Cary Catching, Rosie Garcia

We reviewed last month's meeting minutes. Cary Catching moved to approve
the minutes. Motion passed.
-
2 teachers volunteered to chaperone for Grad Night: Jennifer Thomas and
George Adragna.

Treasurer's Report: Karen Jolly

Balance $14,074.52
-
Eggroll sales brought in $765.85.
-
There was a $94.18 bill for student of the month.

Cary Catching moved to approve the treasurer's report. Motion passed.

Mr. Funk talked about the teacher mini-grants. They will probably be needed
in spring. Next year will be worse. We may want to save the money and give
more next year. At the next meeting we will know how the budget looks.
We need to put together a mini-grant form. We have $3000 set aside for
the mini-grants. Carol Silveria, Chris Funk, and Cary Catching will work
work on a grant form. They will bring the form to the next meeting.

Karen Jolly said we need a place on the PTSA membership form to donate
money.

We need a nominating committee of 3 people and 1 alternate to nominate
PTSA officers for next year. We need to vote on the committee next month
in the general meeting. Jan Finger and Chris Heller (not in attendance)
were mentioned as possibilities.

PTSA Scholarship:
-
We need 3 non-senior parents to be on the scholarship committee. Carol
Silveria, Karen Jolly, and Rosie Garcia volunteered to serve on it.

Students don't need to be PTSA members to qualify for scholarships this
year.

The scholarship forms have been distributed.

We talked about the School Site Council. It meets the second Wednesday
of the month at 3:30 in the Gallery. It consists of 4 parents, 4 teachers,
2 students, Mr. Heller, and Mr. Funk. Parent members are nominated, elected
by ballot on Back-to-School Night, and serve 2-year tems. Next year there
will be 1 opening.

Cary Catching moved to adjourn. Meeting adjourned 8:45 pm.
