| Feburary 7th, 2004 3:51pm The air was electric and stress levels were high as the Liberty Winter Guard warmed up for their MCCGA debut, and their very first winter guard competition. The show started on the wrong foot with the floor having to be turned around, but they werent the only guard to do that for this competition. As soon as the crazy-looking mad scientists got into place on the floor and gave their salute, the crowd hushed with anticipation and the more than familiar beat of Toxic began to play. Silence reigned among all but the judges, who seemed surprised and delighted at the new twist of the song. The nervousness of the guard did not relax, as there were a few drops and some colliding flags, but the girls were quick to regain their composure. Their confused expressions carried the show as they tried to figure out how to make their love potion and as they gained confidence, they worked harder to impress even more. Liberty Winter Guard competed in class Regional C against three other guards from Carr Lane, Sullivan, and the Lees Summit North JV guard. Their hard worked paid off as they learned that they ranked top in their class with a score of 64.1 (of 100); far surpassing the promotional score needed to move them to class Regional B. The score also was the fourth highest of the scores in all of Regional C, B, and A. Congratulations to the Liberty Winter Guard! Keep on spinning! |
