The Lakers managed to get in the 2001 Playoffs again and were the team to beat because they were last years champions. The Lakers this year would face the 76ers in the Finals. In the first game the Lakers were defeated 107-101 in overtime. Most people thought this would be a great series when the Lakers won Game 2 (98-89). Lakers won yet another game 96-91. But then the Lakers started to break free in Game 4 when they won 100-86. They were now winning the series 3-1. The Lakers MVP Shaquille O'Neal and star Kobe Bryant did not let up in Game 5 winning the game and championship 108-96. The Lakers were crowned the NBA Champions for the second year in a row making their 56-26 regular season record even better. |
