| 2004 Bethany International Soccer Academy |
| From July 25th to 29th, 2004 we took 15 players along with former player and incoming Bethany Freshman Gary Valusek to Bethany International Soccer Academy. 2004 marks the 30th year of this soccer camp, and is the 5th longest operating soccer camp in the United States! We had a terrific week starting with a rainy Monday but going without rain for the remainder of the week. The boy's were extremely well behaved and focused this year, they worked harder than any other group in the past and became a solid, bonded team! Our new toughest section competition Indiana was there and stayed in the same dorm building as us. We trained together all week and got to know the players pretty well. Our coach this year was Eric Freis, Head coach of Brooke County High School Boy's team, member of the 1994 Bethany NCAA Championship men's soccer team and graduate of Bethany College. Coaches Brad Takach, Jerry Rogers and Eric Radcliffe were the dorm supervisors again this year. We stayed in Woolery House this year, with LH upstairs and Indiana downstairs. We came in second this year in the Games Day tournament, losing to South Park/Edison by only 5 points! Chad Workman won the coaches award for the team from Coach Eric Freis. I was very, very proud of this group of boys, although the number was down from the past years, they probably worked harder than any team in the past! We are looking forward to using the skills that we have learned in the upcoming season. |
