LAKESIDE HEIGHTS DISTRICT
Wow our Guiders and girls were busy once again. The activites in the past few months have been exciting. We try to include along with the weekly meetings as many service projects as possible and of course there are the outings that the girls enjoy so much. One of the highlights of this past fall was the Harry Potter District Camp that was held up at Arundel. We also had some of our girls attend the annual provincial Commishioner Walk which was held up on Mount Royal this year, the Remembrance Day Parade in Pointe Claire, Christmas carolling with seniors and our 7th Annual Food Drive. Lots of pictures of these were taken and some are here for you to see.
We have 116 girls registered this year. We have more adult members registered than last year, and we have 3 junior leaders working in our units.
HARRY POTTER CAMP:
LINK to this is under construction... Come back soon!
REGAL
Our Local Association of parents runs a great Regal campaign every year to raise money to pay for our meeting halls. This year went well like usual and we raised $1000 from orders.. Thanks to Karen who co-ordinated this fundraiser, and to the unit Mom's who delivered the catalogues to the units, collected the orders and delivered the goods. And of course thanks to all those who sold for us.
REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE
It was another wet and cold parade, but a few girls from our district manage to come out each year regardless to represent our district thanking and remembering what Canadian soldiers did for us and for the world so many years ago.

7th ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE--
The looks on the faces of the girls and the excitement as they tell us what some people at the houses gave them makes the whole thing so worth while for those of us receiving the food. We probably have about as much food as last year and once again went over the $600 mark with $637. People have been very generous once again. It was quite the job to put all this away in the pantry and to put together the baskets. Once again we were able to increase the number of families that received baskets. (And Thanks to all those who helped with the Christmas gifts that went with these baskets. ) Des Kelly of CAC was absolutely astonished at the pile and even more astonished when Linda called him with the final count of the money!!!!!!!!!!!!
1998 $209.45
1999 $400.00
2001 $637.00
2002 $642.53
Christmas Carolling
Sunday December 9. Edwin Crawford Home.
The Spark and Brownie Spark sing along was fantastic. The girls sure sang out
loud and clear. We were amazed at how well the girls knew the songs. The seniors
filled the room and were full of enthusiasm watching our younger members of
guiding put on a show. It was wonderful.
On Thursday December 13 over 20 guides and 10 Pathfinders with a gang of leaders
showed up at the Bayview Hospital (for chronically ill ). We were all geared
up to sing Christmas carols for a couple of hours. Once again we went straight
up to the top floor and sang while making our rounds through the bedrooms and
in the hall. We worked our way down through the hospital one floor at a time.
The looks of the faces of so many of the patients warmed the hearts of all of
us. Again this is one of those events that all love to attend every year.
Following are a couple of pictures taken at this event.

Operation Christmas Child
Another project that many of our girls participated in was Operation Christmas Child. The girls brought in various items to fill the many shoeboxes that we had brought. They enjoyed learning about this project and enjoyed participating in it.
Hopefully next year we will get more of our units involved.
