3rd Lakeside Heights Guides

It promises to be a fun year full of surprises with the 3rd Guides. We have two Guiders who are brand new to Guiding this year. Both have been encourged, prodded, pushed and almost bribed for years to join. And both are already loving every minute and wishing they had joined many years ago... Jacquie and Dominique are these two new leaders.

We have Christie who was a camp councellor at Wa-thik-ani this summer and was invited to join us by our Junior Leader Linda.

And we have Michele, who will try to be the responsible one who calms things down.....

And of course we have our 18 wonderful, well behaved, fun loving girls. Our girls love to come together one night a week to have fun and be challenged.

( WOW we are now up to 20. Two new girls have joinged us. Welcome girls!!! )

In October Linda, Christie and one of their friends who was also up at Wa-thik-ani as a life guard, Vikki, took our third year girls for a week-end camp. Two of the girls have completed their Experienced Camper Badge and they have all completed their 24 hour adventure.

Meeting #1: We talked about the RCMP, canadian symbols and we did our RCMP posters. We played a few getting to know you games and we did some brainstorming as to what we want to do this year. And of course, we finished off with a campfire.

Meeting #2: Outside for Encounter and Exploring girls to do Outdoor challenges. Meanwhile the Discovering girls worked on planning their camp. We played the promise relay game after talking to the girls a little about what the promise was and what it means. We gave out the guide shop bags to the girls and had them decorate them as very few had them the week before. The girls will now have a guiding bag to bring their binders with their programs books, pencil and paper, their indoor shoes and their water bottle.Finished with a singalong.

Meeting #3: All levels worked on different challenges for the Our Community in their levels. We talked about patrols, and patrol leader elections. Played a few games led by Linda and Christie...need to get names of games and the rules. And finished with a campfire. First years were led by the third year girls in a wonderful game about Aliens and the promise.
