You go to the Beach. Beach Ancient dunes have been flattened by the endless parade of people and dragons that tramp northwest across the bowl, leaving a mere skiff of sand here along lake's beaten edge. Footprints litter the curve of beach, some left turns ago and caught frozen in the heavy clay earth near the water's edge. As the sun sets, shadows invade, creeping like fingers across the gently sloping ground and darkening the distant ledges on the far side of the lake. To the north, dust rises from the redolent pens while the flattened disc of the main bowl is just a step to the northwest. It is a summer afternoon. Darting here and there are thirteen firelizards. Brown Zenzorath and blue Wiranth are here. You see Atticus, Ye Olde Hatching Rules, Dry organic waste, a trundlebug, Ini, Mara, Family Matters Egg, Bohemian Orange Egg, Glitter and Glam Egg, Thread in the Sky Egg, Paw Print in the Sand Egg, Pot of Gold Egg, and Deep Blue Sea Egg here. Tevya, Hyzen, Lianta, Synte, Masaiya, Sikkyen, Daniri, and Gwynna are here. Obvious exits: Stables Feeding Pens Central Bowl Lake

OOC: Tevya goes over some rules really quick..

Mithras slowly meanders in from the Central Bowl.

Trajan has arrived.

Nuff trundles in from the Central Bowl.

Lilah walks in from the Central Bowl.

Rianna hop-skips in from the Central Bowl.

Cledwyn glides in from the Central Bowl.

OOC: Tevya says "The usual for this hatching goes. No flaming after/during the hatching please. Be considerate of all players and the hatchers here. Please do not change the descs on the firelizards..keep things IC! One pose for every hatchling/egg pose and no power playing. Feed the hatchlings meat and please keep all OOC comments to a minimum. If I missed anything, just read the Ye Old Hatching Rules for more information. Thanks all and good luck :)"

Legolas walks in from the Central Bowl.

Lynar strides in from the Central Bowl.

Legolas calls to Cledwyn, who flies over and lands on his shoulder.

Fyria sashays and shimmies her....self in from the Central Bowl.

Lilah yawns rather idly as she steps onto the beach. The High Reachian apprentice clutches onto her bag before looking a place for her dinner. She was getting quite hungry and yet, it seems there is a growing crowd around here! Hrmph!

Gwynna creeps onto the beach, not entirely certain of the direction she should be going in, though glad she's taken Rilna's advice. Weyrs *are* quite a change from the Hold. With a bowl of meat for the pair on her shoulders and a meager meatroll for herself. Pausing at the crowd, she starts at Athame's ecstatic trill and looks closer. Ah. Eggs. Right. Finding a spot to watch from, she settles.

Lynar quietly heads towards Sikkyen, eyes intent. "Boo!" is announced, as he's behind the 'Reachian stablehand. A smirk, a snerk, a grin, and a pat on the head is offered to the other 'hand; "How you doin'?" Restdays. He's up here to find something for Tie. Where's Tor when you need 'im?

Nuff waddles in, as Nuff's will in their own Weyr. "Oooh", she says nodding randomly to those gathered on her beach. "Nuffies loves our Hatchings." We love our Hatchings very much, yes we does. "Even the little ones." She grins, then, as Nuffs will, and settles down to watch the fun.

Daniri settles herself down a ways away from the eggs, here to observe quietly.

Tierza walks in from the Central Bowl.

Fyria wanders in after Fihall, frowning. "Where in shards do you thinkg you're going? I just gave you a kiss!!" Well..just a peck on the cheek, but still. "Ohhh...I see. EGGS. Flit eggs, not less. Hah." She looks at the remaining wherry roll in her hand and ponders it. "Hmmm...do I try, or not. Hmmm."

Lhana jogs in lightly, all set for a nice run when she sees - huhwhat? People? Stopping, she walks toward the crowd of people, peering about curiously. "Oh!" she says aloud, "Eggs." Then she glances around sharply - did I say that out loud? Then a glance down to the wherry meat wrapped up in a cloth she was holding in her hand. "Is there gonna be a hatching or something?" Good thing she got dinner on the run.

Fihall peers with impish delight at the clutch but wades through the masses towards Fyria, poking her lightly with a mischivous smile. "Can't get enough of the ol' Fihall, can you? Maybe another kiss will help?" Cough. The boy can try. He does manage to rumamge through his things and bring out a bit of jerky swiped recently from the kitchens. He's prepared, yessire.

Legolas follows close behind Fyria with a meatroll in hand. He'll try for the fun of it...he's got nothing better to do so why not? "Yes charm..no running away from pretty ladies after they kiss you." He winks to Fyria as he walks at her side.

Tierza says, "Lynie, I don't think Tatia would.." Stops at all the people and the eggs..."I /know/ Tat wouldn't be /here/." Eyes to the 'hand.. "You want to stay anyway?"

Family Matters Egg gives a twitch and a wiggle. Is it time? Is it time? No, no, the family's not all here yet, you see. Settling back into its nice little nest of sand, the egg waits patiently...

Family Matters Egg Three solid bands start as one mass at the cradle of this egg. Sapphire, crimson and emerad in hue, each diverges as their upwards crawl continues. Soon to be on completely different sides of the shell at the mid-way point, a lonely void of black greets each gap between color. Looming, nearly unfathamable..yet there is the sprinkle of dust. Glittering silver and swirling gold that meet within this void. Holding promises, insight perhaps? And indeed there is hope, for the bands, they spiral around, comming to meet with one another at the tip of the egg, forming an identical pool set into the top of the egg, holding not only the brillaint colors, but also a new hope. Shining amethyst at the very tip. A flare of life, a flare of love, a flare of family. The egg is very hard, and may hatch any time now.

Rianna happily skips along after all the people. Having heard 'firelizard eggs' Rianna quickly tagged along, stopping only to find food, since she's learned a bit at the last one. Squirming her way forward, Rianna even crawls between

Lilah is pretty much in complete idleness a glance is silently offered towards the others. Lashes fluttering, snortings, and smirking all at once before flopping down. Getting a quick glimpse at the twitching egg. Of course! That is why people were around. Flopping down towards the back of the crowd for now.

Lianta blinks dismayedly at all the people, then notices the family matters egg out of the corner of her eye. Bending down towards it, she watches it slowly, checking that she has enough meat in her sachel.

Nerf suddenly disappears ::between::!

From above, Kela-ki drops down towards the beach.

Kela-ki clatters down from above.

Fyria gives Fihall an In-your-dreams look. "Nuh uh...only one for you, I'm afraid." She eyes the eggs as some begin to wiggle and warble. "Y'both going to try for one of the little winged gossips?" Grin. "Just to warn you...that's exactly what they are. Winged gossips. Kiss your privacy goodbye." Chuckle.

Deep Blue Sea Egg shimmers faintly, the deep colours along its shell seeming to pulse with the life inside-- reflecting the lake that rests beyond. But there's nothing more from this one. Not yet.

From above, Cerdith drops down towards the beach.

Cerdith clatters down from above.

Rianna happily skips along after all the people. Having heard 'firelizard eggs' Rianna quickly tagged along, stopping only to find food, since she's learned a bit at the last one. Squirming her way forward, Rianna even crawls between a person's legs in an attempt to make it to the front. As soon as she's settled, Lemon drops onto her should and tries to steal some food.

Cerdith extends a graceful forelimb as Reiko dismounts, easing her way safely to solid ground.

Fihall twitches his fingers gently, casting one of those very hurt, but I'l lget you yet looks towards Fyria as the eggs begin to tremble. "Well, why not? Atleast a firelizard will keep me /company/ and nto go gallivanting off with some bidding weyrhealer type." He's hurt, really, or was until more eggs started bouncing.

Legolas looks at Fy from the conner of his eye and laughs softly, shaking his head. He finds a nice place in the sand and plops himself down. He's not one for standing...never has been really. Hie eyes glance from the wiggling eggs to Fihall and Fyria. Both are really intersting.

Nuff trundles her way over towards the two attending dragons and, after a brief curtsey and undheard conversatin, drops herself down onto Wiranth's long tail. Thus perched, she pulls out her knitting (purple), and settles down amidst a tangle of plum and peach. Clickclackklank go her snap-fast needles.

Euria walks in from the Central Bowl.

Gwynna is just one of those compulsive meat-carriers types, though it could have something to do with her bronze Kailyst's appetite for blood. She tenses slightly as one egg, and then another, twitch, relaxing as they still. Seeing nothing else to do but wait, the visiting Keroonite bites into her meatroll, keeping a hand over the little bowl of meat. One never knows if one'll need it, after all.

Bohemian Orange Egg Sparkle..burst..booom! Shuddering, the Bohemian Orange Egg gives a little taptap to a fellow clutch sib. Things are starting to heat up with this one...

Bohemian Orange Egg Lathered in a bath of fuzzy navel orange, splashed over with hues of rich vermillion, spilled mustard and stained orchid, this oval fire-roasted egg looks like a fine courtesan in itself! Indentations and cracks seem like endless crevasses and creases; each filled with some tinted color of either verdant truth; A rusty and darkening azure - Beauty! Or perhaps that of a pale royal purple? Freedom and love! The egg is very hard, and may hatch any time now.

Tierza extends her hand to Lynnie and grins. "Sure, I don't mind. I'm sure tat is as far from these things as is humanly possible. But I can always find her later. You got anything to feed one if it wants you?" Other hands heads to the pouch always carried on the gardener-person.

Reiko slips off Cerdith's shoulder to land on the beach with a light thud, scowling darkly to see so many people gathered. Probably another of those sharding firelizard clutches. The blue swings his head around in a noticeably better humor, rumbling something like amusement at the tiny nest.

Lhana didn't hear an answer to her question, but it's quickly supplied by the wiggling eggs. "Ooooh, it is." She grins happily, and leans forward to look over the little eggs. Pretty.

Pot of Gold Egg is content to just sit and look pretty, with momma up there keeping a watch from a safe distance. No motion yet from this little oval.

Fihall grins ruefuly at Legolas before turning his attentions towards the shuddering orange egg. A tilt of the head, a quirk of the lip, a mild waggle of the jerky. Yep, things are looking good.

Daniri sucks in her breath. This is starting to get exciting. She glances around quickly, for no apparent reason, then turns to gaze again upon the eggs.

Lynar eyeballs the rocking and rawlin' egg, before grinbeamkling and settling down a bit away from the hatchlings, patting the ground next to him, grinning up at Tie. It's always good to cuddle and observe f'lizzen hatchlings. The birth of flying stomachs, the newly trained slaves to their humanpets.. "I'm good." He lifts his own pouch. "Gem loves food so much I keep it on me twenty-four seven." Grin.

Lianta holds her ground against the not-so-sudden throng of people. She's not quite sure _why_, but she'd like to see what all this fuss about flits is about.

Legolas laughs at Fihall and shakes his head, "You got alot to learn youngin." That is if he is really serious about being a theif. He'll just have to take the boy under his wing for a while. His eyes gaze back to the eggs and he notices them wiggling. With a sigh he digs deep in his pockets, there is usually something interesting to eat in there. With two blue's you have to have something interesting to eat all the time. All he seems to find is a small chunk of meat...that'll do for now.

Euria wanders down towards the lake, idly scuffing her feet along the ground. "So much for finding Jaely," She mutters, in reference to a sibling who is *supposed* to be residing at High Reaches. The Istan shakes her head, sending reddish curls flying around her face. 'Eh...there's an awful large group gathered. Euria pokes her head in that direction, verdant eyes curious. "What's going on?" There's some eggs...and where there's eggs..."Firelizards!" She looks absolutely delighted.

"Hrm." Muttering softly the Herder casually glances towards the rocking eggs, surprisingly there were a lot of them and most of them seemed to be wiggling here and there - atleast from what she could observe! Snazzy! Of course now, Lilah was preoccupied eating her own meal though saving some for any peculiar firelizards that she might see.

Kela-ki warbles to herself, unusually disinterested in the fate of the particular eggs that she clutched. Sure, she shows some attention--but mostly out of curiousity then motherly instinct. Stretched over a warmed rock, she lazes and lounges and generally keeps a watch over all below her. Let them fret and fray; she was just here to be entertained.

Family Matters Egg is tapped against. Now, that wasn't very nice-- trying to start something. A violent shiver races across the strained portions of the shell, tiny cracks appearing as it rolls away from the other, tapping egg. Not so fast, dear sibling, you're just going to have to wait. Another bounce, a hop, a jerk. Little flakes fall, tempting the little one within.

Well, anticipation is certainly a strong point in this hatching. Not that Fihall has been to any, but the way he's leaning precariously angled so as to see the eggs, he's goign to fall any.. oh.. no.. leeeeaaaan. As it happens, the red head only ends up landing at Fyria's feet, and with a mild garble of rump borne pain, scoots closer to the clutch.

Tierza settles beside Lynar, glad for any time they can get together. Rumors have the steward fasting and she and Ly haven't had the chance yet. Tisn't fair! And then.. "Ohh.. they are moving fast now, Dear. I wonder what Sweeting would say to another memeber to the fair?"

Chirping happily in Rianna's ear, Lemon's cries get higher and higher pitched as the excitement of a hatching, and the enthusiasm of his young owner rub off on him. Rianna pulls out some slices of cooked meat and slips one into her mouth after feeding Lemon one. Dumping the rest in her lap, she giggles happily staring at the colorful eggs.

Lynar curiously watches the Family Matters egglet. Not nearly as wonderous to watch as the Pot of Gold egg, in all of it's.. unmoving splendor, of course, but still - interesting, to say the least. "Betcha a quarter-mark that that one will be a brown," with a nod to the Matters Egg. "Sweeting? She would probably die of pure shock at yet another member."

Lianta Wow! How fantastic! Lianta's pretty sure that the actual hatching might just be the neatest part of all this. Now the trick is to overcome the natural shyness and just try! She's a good-hearted little waif, but not too assertive, as such things go. She reaches slowly for her meat bowl, in case of any imminent action.

Gwynna isn't nervous. She isn't anything, in fact, save present. Hoping to appease her two for a bit, she carefully takes two juicy meat-chunks from the bowl and feeds one to each, grimacing at the tiny spatterings that stain her shoulders. Hoping the spots aren't too noticable, she silently watches the latest moving egg, assuming it'll hatch first.

Daniri mutters and digs through her pockets, finally coming up with a meatroll. Not much, but it'll have to do. She pulls off the breading and stares at the meat, wondering how a flit would best like. Better get closer, too. she squeezes forward through the crowd as best she can, trying to get a look at the eggs.

Paw Print in the Sand Egg trembles, quivers of excitement that seem to ripple throught the entire egg. Oooh there were so many interesting noises..and the smells! A hop from the egg as one shake seems to roll it right over a ramp and the egg careens before falling in the nest. Oopsie.

Paw Print in the Sand Egg Yellow and blue and red swirl over the smallish egg in whirls of confetti and crepe paper. Scattered along the lower half are unidentifiable shapes, wrapped in sparkly multi-colored paper. But what does this egg contain? No fair shaking--it's a surprise. The egg is very hard, and may hatch any time now.

Sushi, that squooshy rounded well-fed roll of gold that claims the Nuff, stretches out her head towards the young Kela-ki and thrummblechirrs. It is a quiet noise, for work well done, and is buried in the clatter of Nuff's flashing needles. For her part, the old weyrwoman watches the younglings moreso than the eggs. Occasionally she even offers advice. "Mind their claws well. And the teeth. And their attentions. And..."

Muttering darkly, Reiko goes about removing the riding straps from her dragon, who's already looking rather impatient to have his swim, and nudging his lifemate rather insistently. Scrubs are good. "It's cold," Reiko informs him, as if he cared. "Let me sit in the sun for a little while."

Family Matters Egg has had enough of this heat and constraint! And so, the firelizard within gives one more mighty heave...

Family Matters Egg bounces out of the nest, the silent egg no longer still. No longer passive. Such things always come to an end, as must this. Cracks appear, zig-zagging along the surface of the egg. Reaching jagged tendrils downwards before the pressure from the inside of the egg is too great. One side gives, and the frantic struggles of the hatchling cease as it tumbles from it's home.

Protective Big Brother Bronze Hatchling Peaceful and serene, the coloration on his hide is just that. Dull colors that seek no imediate response other then respect. Truly at his best, for golden weaves find place upon sturdy shoulders. Always held just so, never a droop to them, or so the shading implies. Lighter hues pick up natural flow of muscletone, riding the curves and bends. Down his chest does the molten hue flow, edging along the underside of his belly to visit his tail and completely enfold it. Simplistic in nature, copper finds place on his headknobs, flowing downwards to bring a sheem to wide set sapphire eyes and down his bottle-tipped nose. A stubborn streak of brass finds hold here, a trailing point reaching into his very maw and the end reaching around to curve under neath chin. Swirling and striking, the hues of highly polished nutmeg flow across front limbs and the sides of his stomch, to crumble down hindquarters. Youthful and exuberant, not one thing ever tells of age on his form. No impurities, no imperfections. Sparkling stars and Rukbats hottest rays mingle, forming the everlasting shine that splurges across translucent wingsails to bring new shine to an already sparkling hide.

Kela-ki chitter-whirrs, snapping once and warbling to herself at the noisiness of those below her. Goodness, a firelizard couldn't bask in the sun without someone screaming and ruining the moment. Huff. Really. She hears the quiet-congradulation of sorts from Sushi and snorts derisively. She may have popped them out, but she didn't want anything to do with them. Sharded things made her fat.

Daniri gulps, finding herself sweating with tension. First chance in her life to see a fire-lizard Hatching, maybe even last, and she can't see a sharding thing. Muttering "'scuse me's" and "pardon me's" she tries to push forward again. She peers through some people and gasps. An egg had hatched! A beautiful bronze! She rips off a piece of her meat and holds it forward between two fingers, hand trembling. Please, oh please...

Legolas laughs softly as suddenly a bronze busts from the egg, "Well that was rather interesting wasn't it?" He questions to anyone who is acctually paying attention to the young man who happens to be sitting in the sand cause...he feels like it? Not one for standing nope...no he isn't lazy just not a stander thats all.

Lianta squeals softly in spite of herself in surprise and alarm. She hadn't expected them to be .. so.. sudden! Quickly, she offers a morsel of meat in a small hand, hoping...

Lhana squats down a bit, unwrapping the meat she brought with her to eat-n-run. Looking at it, she gives a little sigh. She /was/ hungry, after all. But as long as there's a hatching going on... Might as well, right? Then a pretty /bronze/ one comes out of the egg, and she gasps. "Loook!" she cries to whoever happens to be nearest her, "One of them hatched out!" And she just watches, as yet too curious to remember to hold out her meat for the little guy.

Lynar arches both brows. "Wow, I was almost -- certain -- that that'd be a brown." He shakes his head. "A bronze, eh?" He's looking for either another green or brown. Creme-de-menthe or chocolate; he needs a well-rounded "collection". A bronze, though? A /bronze/? "You gonna go for this one?" he quietly queries at Tie. "I think I'll wait for something less... vivacious." Cough.

Fihall catches himself staring wide-eyed at the bronze, his jerky almost forgotten as he attempts to gain some sort of ballance, a half kneel if you will. His fingers stretch, once mroe twitching with pent anticipation, the bit of meat wriggling about.

Euria pokes her curly head into the midst of several conversations, apologizing as she does so. Finally she happens upon an unattended bowl of meat, and since no one seems to be wanting any...the Istan hastily snatches some up in her fist, and strides away, whistling innocently. As if sensing her pet's mischief, Anni appears, chittering in irritation. 'You aren't *supposed* to steal!' She seems to say, nearly bristling from annoyance. Euria shakes her head, and shooes the green away. "M'dear, you really should calm down. Impre would be *very* annoyed by your behavior."

Marcus blinks in from ::between::!

Jua blinks in from ::between::!

If firelizards could laugh, Sushi's stuttering hiccuping thrum might be a giggle. As it is she shakes a tail at the cynical child-gold and then drops her attention to Kela-ki's eggs. Nuff /does/ giggle. "Well if he ain't just the cutest little thing. And not nearly as loudly colored as his dam. Watcha think Reiko? A might smaller than Cerdith eh?"

Fyria sashays and shimmies her....self to the Central Bowl.

Gwynna watches the bronze... protector?... that emerges from the eggs, the hostess reaching slowly for some meat to offer. Kailyst, quiet until that moment, chitters with annoyance. One bronze is enough, thank you, and *I'm* him. Gwyn cannot understand firelizards, and therefore has nothing but a chitter to go on. But though she glances as best she can at her own bronze, she doesn't put the meat away.

Protective Big Brother Bronze Hatchling stretches his wings slowly, relishing the warmth of the sun upon his hide before he turns his head upon the crowd gathered... just for him! A tail flick is given before golden mother is spotted, jaw dropped slightly in a questioning warble. Stay with the family or go upon his own? Ah, such a choice. Upon his paws he gets, wings held aloft for balance as he begins slowly towards the people that awaited him-- uncertain in this dealing with these strange, large creatures.

Tierza says, "I'm partial to blues, myself.. but he's handsome in his own way." Looks the bronze over from headknobs to tailspar. "Yea, you are a brown sort-of fellow, I think.""

From above, Padaketh blinks in from ::between::!

Legolas laughs softly at Fihall and nods to the boy, he's got it down for the most part but Lego finds it easier fully sitting. Yep..more cozy too. Or if you ask him anywho...or is he just strange? No matter. Lego pats the boy's back, "relaxe. You'll impress one." His other hand is resting on a nee and is hanging rather limply with the meat between his thumb and pointer.

From above, Padaketh drops down towards the beach.

Padaketh clatters down from above.

Lesa slides from Padaketh's neck and lands gently on the ground.

Fihall would get up if there weren't about a dozen over zealous people bumbping into him at all angles, he grumbles, temtped to start knawing on ankles, but keeps one eye on the hatchling, and oen eye on the chance there might eb a break in the crowd and he can scramble up.

Lynar nods thoughtfully. "Yes -- I think I'll wait this one out. Blues, hmm? I like browns." Explains why he has two, ne? "Really family-oriented. Or hidebound. Or.. shellbound." Chuckle. "This guy's humorous, anyhow. To watch, that is."

Daniri begins to silently move her lips, mouthing something indecipherable, though it is probably some sort of encouragement towards the 'lizard. She stretches her arm farther, flat on her belly and waves the meat enticingly. /Please notice, please notice,/ she thinks desperately towards the bronze flit.

Lesa chuckles, seeing the gathering. She grins at the eggs and the creeling sound of newly hatched and finds a spot to sit, quietly watching.

Lhana blinks, suddenly coming back to herself. She giggles involuntarily, and finally remembers to hold out a handful of meat for the pretty bronze flitter. Fooood? You know you want the foood! Theres a smile for the little guy, and she attempts to look her most appealing, despite her junkier, I'm-going-running appearance.

Kela-ki, although fairly uninterested, does at least look at her spawn--albeit with a critical eye. Yes yes. All well and good. A perfect bronze yes; what did you expect? He came from her. And then, attention is brought away and back to herself as she feels she is getting too much sun on one side. If the little thing wanted her attention he was going to have to start doing some backflips or something interesting.

Rianna squeaks, yes, /Rianna/, not Lemon. In her excitement, a sound that could only be described as a squeak steals from Rianna's throat. "Ohhh! He's the same color as you Lemmie! Sooo pretty!" At Lemon's jealous chirp, she turns her attention to her own bronze and gives both him and herself a piece of meat. "Oh, ba Demmi, you muched preddier." The words distorted due to her full mouth. It seems that the girl eats more than the firelizards do at these things.

Gwynna waits patiently, far too many Turns of raising her siblings leaving her rather immune to various annoyances. The meat is still offered steadily, though the young woman is slowly starting to agree with her firelizard that one bronze is enough. She turns to studying the crowd instead, idly looking from person to person.

Reiko swings her head around as her name is called, eyeing Nuff first and then the hatchling. "Just a bit," she allows, her tone dry. Not that she'd been looking at the hatchlings much. But it's an excuse not to get into the water.

Nuff, meanwhile, remembers she's knitting something and counts her stitches. "One thousand nine hundred and eighty one, one thousand nine hundred and eighty two, one thousand nine hundred and eighty three, one thousand nine hundred and eighty four! Ha!" Okay, so that took her awhile. She drops some purple yarn down around Wiranth's tail and continues random commentary. "Just a bit? Well. Still. Cerdith looks well."

Paw Print in the Sand Egg quivers once more. Shake. Wobble..roll..and out of the nest the egg falls, rolling down the side before coming to a stop at the very base. Ooh! That was fun! Again!

Euria's gaze shifts away from the hatchling as her own bronze companion appears, hanging in the air to chitter anxiously at her. "Honestly, Impre! Jealous little brat!" The Istan shakes her head, green eyes showing her mild annoyance. Anni seems to have settled down, for she perches on Euria's shoulder, only chittering the occasional reprimand.

Saroa walks in from the Central Bowl.

Lynar observes Paw Print. "I like that one," he idylically remarks. Then, "But I like that one better." He nods towards Pot of Gold, with all of it's unmovability. "Whaddabout you?" Peer at Tie. Shiftment.

Nemesis occurs from /between/.

Lianta is honestly hoping that the little bronze won't bite her fingers off. It doesn't look likely, but she really enjoys having fingers. She still holds out her meat for it, but this time with a bit more of a prayer.

Legolas watches the Paw Print Egg roll about but the orange one has caught his attention. Something about that color has caught his hazel eyes today. His eye flicker from the flit to Fihall. "Maybe he'll go for you. Wiggle your meat to him more." Lego turns his attention back to the orange one. He really likes that color.

Fihall peers over his shoulder towards Legolas with a firm, confidant, all be it strained smile. You see, our poor little resident is stil ltrying to get up. A little wiggle of the rump and he manages atleast to settle on both knees before turning his attentions to the newly rolling egg, a brow quirking, and his meet still dangles for the bronze chap.

Daniri tries to stretch her arm farther yet, her eyes widening as another egg falls and the wonderful bronze starts moving again. This is so exciting, yet nerve-wracking. Wishing she had some sort of idea what is needed to Impress, she moves the meat back and forth again, hoping the scent will catch the flit's attention.

Lhana holds her bit of meat out just a bit farther in the general direction of the little bronze, acutely thankful that she managed to find other tasks for her own little flitters. They /can/ get annoying at these things, can't they? But then she brings herself back to the present again and attempts to divide her attention between the motionless Glitter and Glam egg (preeettty) and the little bronze.

Sorrel blinks in from ::between::!

Lesa remains quietly watching, her gaze shifting from hatchling firelizards to rocking eggs and then resting, gazing deeply at each person gathered, as if looking within. Her eyes flicker in curiosity, as if trying to match hatchling with future humanpets and then she shakes her head slightly, to clear it perhaps. "I bet that one's a green next." she whispers, mostly to herself, indiciating the sand egg.

Tierza peers at all the eggs and shakes her head. "I confess, the eggs are always interesting, so I wait for the hatchling itself. But the first you pointed to is maybe one I like best."Paw prints, that is.

With both her companions at her side, and no more interruptions, Euria finally turns her attention back to the next. Her emerald eyes scan eggs and shards alike. Ahh...there. "Look!" She says joyously, tapping Impre Sha'war on the snout. "The little bronze has found himself someone!" Impre seems delighted at this, for he croons loudly, almost in approval. Euria's curls bob up and down as she chuckles to herself. And there's her meat, ever dangling. So...appetizing?

Reiko's smile warms a little at the compliment to her lifemate, and she steps a bit closer to Nuff and her knitting, casually choosing not to notice Cerdith's halfhearted complaining that his lifemate isn't joining him to swim. "Thanks," she says, almost warmly. "What's that you're working on?"

Nuff offers naught but the flash of silver needles and the tangled web of purple that one day might be a sweater. "Tiareth'd kill me if I tried for another", she says absently, "Though I've always wanted a little bronze. Not like the big ones 'Reth brings home now and again."

Seumas walks in from the Central Bowl.

Sorrel goes home.

Saroa goes home.

Protective Big Brother Bronze Hatchling is aware of one thing-- trying to find just the right food and just the right match. But where could such a combination be? Giving a high pitched creel, the little bronze trundles along, tasting this and poking that. And yet nothing seems to spark his interest. Until... what's that?! A tiny hand wiggling a tempting bit of morsel. But whom did the hand belong to? Gamboling across the sand, he skids to a stop next to the hand that holds the meat of his choice, head tilted curiously to one side. Ah, someone that needs his own personal protection! Reaching out, delicate muzzle takes the waggled meat and gulps it down before great eyes peer up into the shadowed face of Daniri.

Protective Big Brother Bronze Hatchling's cries turn joyous, and he turns towards Daniri, creeling piteously.

Lynar chuckles. "You have a good point," he nods to Tie, before overhearing Lesa. "Blue," he beamgrins. "I bet it'll be blue." He's been dying to have a good bet going all day. Seriously, too -- skeery. "Or even brown." He hopes brown. He /loves/ browns. Not as much as Tielove, of course; ain't happening. Well.. mebbe momma, but momma ain't around enough for him to love as much as Tielove. Impulsively, the stablehand leans over and presses a tender kiss to Tierza's cheek, beaming. Happiness. Joy to the world. Peace on Pern. It's a freakin' good day to be alive.

Lianta goes home.

Fihall offers a lopsided smile towards Daniri, would clap, but, doesn't seem to fit the situation?

Seumas enters quietly helping an old uncle from the Smiths to sit down on a blanket."Rest here Uncle... we can go back to the Reaches after we've had the picnic we brought..." "Sonny did ye bring the juice an' the spiderclaws?" "Yes yes.... I have them here... remember we got them from the auntie in the kitchens?" The old man chuckles like a little boy and rubs his hands together. Memory is not as good as it once was...

Daniri gasps with surprise, amazement, and joy as the bronze takes the meat from her hand. Almost screaming with happiness, she offers more meat to him, her smile widening until it seems it will stretch right off her face.

Legolas smiles at Daniri and nods to the person, his eyes slowly glance back over to Fihall, "Do you need some help there?" Lego gets to his feet and walks over to the boy through the crowd with no to little problem.

Not wanting to hurt Lemon's feelings, Rianna takes one last look at the bronze and shrugs. Her hazel eyes scan the other eggs and catch on two in particular. Naturally the two prettiest, in her opinion, because Rianna loves pretty things. "Lemmie, isn't that one pretty?" Her tiny hand raises up and points at the blue one. "It's blue!" Thrilled, Rianna's voice rings out, probably a bit too loud, and not at all respectful. After all, she's only a child, they do that type of stuff. Pulling up on her knees, she leans forward trying to see the pretty blue egg, and the sparkly disco ball egg.

Paw Print in the Sand Egg gives another start. A shake and a roll and *crack!* Logs do come in handy every now and then. Another shudder and a soft peeping can be heard from within the egg...

Lesa snickers at Nuff's comments and she winks "The burden of a gold rider." she turns to Lynar and smiles "Bet a mark on it?" she wagers, a dragonrider through and through. "Congradulations." she offers to Daniri seeing the bronze find his preference.

Marcus suddenly disappears ::between::!

Nuff looks up from Wiranth's tail and grins cheekily at Lesa, all dimples and gold curls. "You just behave."

Fihall peers at the cracking egg, runnign a hand through titian locks as he dangles his meat in a more appetizing way? Yes, definately. Wriggle wriggle.

Gwynna sets the dripping meat back in the bowl for the moment, stretching to see who gets the bronze. She considers calling her congratulations, deciding after a moment that she's a bit too far back to do so without screaming. So she'll just stay there and smile and look happy. Something like that.

Kela-ki notices some commotion going about and once again steers her eyes downwards. Ah. One of the little things chose somebody; that's one less fat-maker coming crying home to mommy. Not that they ever did. Ungrateful brats.

Lynar gives a devilish grin at Lesa. "You've got it, dragonrider. One mark. It's gonna be blue." Heaven help us all; Lynnie's been around Jaryn /far/ too much. Beam. Grin. Awaitment. Trepidation -- and hope.

Andressan walks in from the Central Bowl.

Lhana watches the little bronze find his match, and grins happily. That's the best part, isn't it? Then she turns back to watching her favorite egg, the sparkly Glitter and Glam one. Sure, it's not moving yet, but it's so /pretty/! But then - the Paw Print egg is hatching! Her attention is quickly turned to that one, as she takes a crouching step toward it.

Tierza blushes at Ly's kiss, but grins annoyingly happy as well. The egg wobbles again and her eye is drawn to it.. "I agree Ly, it's gonna be a blue.." And then she can gloat about a blue from the adorable egg.

Laughing softly at Fihall, Lego takes a seat not far from the boy. One leg is proped up so his arm, with the meat in that hand, lays limp over it. What flit would want sandy food? Come on now! Legolas wouldn't eat it why should they huh?

Paw Print in the Sand Egg shudders softly, forming a new deppresion for it to sink into. The skaing increases, before a jagged crack appears along the side of the egg. Slowly winding it's way down to the crater, before a loud crack is heard and the egg pops open, depositing a blue firelizard onto the ground.

Energetic Pup Blue Hatchling Droopy folds of hide are coated in delft, headknobs that seem to sag rather then stand upright are shining posts of sapphire with a splotch of ultramarine on the very tip. His small, scrunched up face is a pallete of oriental and peacock hued wrinkles, folds pulling down at amethyst hued orbs. A rounded, almost snub shapped nose is dipped in midnight, a blue so deep and dark it appears black. Rather strange and unique is his coloring, a pattern that continues throughout his lanky form. Shrunken shoulders and forelimbs are drenched in methyl, glossimer shading to them adding a unique pull of navy down and across his stomach. Dahlia in it's deepest and purest form trickles down the long hind legs, rounding on the ebony talons. Each sheath appears to be a different hue, for each is a shade darker then the last. A twist of zaffer visits upon his extremely short and extremely plump tail. Truly short is the tail, for it barely has enough length to curl about on himself, and the bold wrappings of cadet that swirl atop zaffer do nothing to help improve or elude to it being longer then it actually is. Wingsails of blueberry spread out in a long, long stretch of translucent folds.

Fihall says little, but we can all see what's going through his very manly mind. Preeeeeety.

Euria claps awkwardly for the girl with the bronze, trying not to smoosh her meat in the process. Ooooh...what's that? She tilts her head, and glances with interest towards the clutch. "A blue!" She crows, clapping again. Smooshed meat...hope the hatchlings don't mind. The Istan glances between Impre and Anni, both of whom now seem enthralled by the hatching. S'long as they don't have competition. "Here boy," Euria wheedles, dangling the meat out in front of her.

Nuff thinks that too, the preety part, but is too wrapped up in her knitting to clap her hands. "Blue's the best, of course." Nevermind Yupyup. SO she sits, and knits, and mebbie falls asleep.

Lesa chuckles and leans over to pat Lynar on the shoulder "Well, I'll be, you guessed right. And here I was sure it was a green after all that hatchings both dragon and firelizard I've been to." She reaches in and pulls out a mark, handing it to the winner. "She leans back into her relaxed seated stance and winks at Nuff again "Though sometimes I wonder if the gold don't choose their bronzes or browns as much as they catch them. I never could get anyone to admit it though."

Seumas cracks a few spiderclaws for the old uncle and himself.... He excuses himself to wander down the beach a bit to stretch his legs once most of the meal has been consumed. He sees the crowd of people, and wanders closer, and drops to his knees, joining the circle. A globular splat of spiderclaw dangles dangerously from the cracked claw, shaped sorta like a bone of all things...

Rianna's view is partly blocked, so she leans even further forward, not far enough to see anything, but far enough to fall smack into the sand. Lemon jumps quickly off her shoulder as the girl's face hits the ground with a loud thud. Lemon squeals angrily and tries sticking his head under her shoulder to help her up, but ends up making it worse.

Kela-ki growl-chitters. More -noise-. Ugh. Noisy noisy noisy. Couldn't people just sit there. No, wait, that would be boring. They could stand on their heads? You didn't have to -talk- to do that. Noisy noisy noisy. Oh, and what's this? Another beasty's left his egg...oh how inter...EGADS! What -IS- that?? Jumping back in 'lizardish horror, the gold chitters irritated. Who snuck that ugly thing into her clutch!? It couldn't possibly have come from her beautiful body.

Gwynna perks up again as another egg break opens, but she sits back at the sight of a blue. The one back in her room, she decides, is quite enough. So hostess settles back and idly scritches the bronze and the green occupying her shoulders and waits for... another hatchling, probably.

Energetic Pup Blue Hatchling ambles from his egg. Tail swing-a-swinging behind him. An occasional bob of his head is given to the crowd as a dark tounge darts out to lick his maw. He smelled something good in there, it was his duty..no it was his mission to find it! Scrambling forwards to the closest hand, the Energetic Pup Blue Hatchling samples the first of what would prove several delicacies for him.

Reiko gives a little smirk as she realizes that Nuff has moved on to the next conversation. Not that it's surprising, with the throng of people gathered. Even being on the same beach with them makes her head ache. Not until she gets a good bit closer does she realize that the weyrwoman has actually... dozed off? Interesting. Rolling a shoulder in a lazy shrug, she abruptly decides to leave Cerdith to his own devices and see what she can find of interest in the caverns. Or, really, /anywhere/ else.

Lynar leans his head back and barks out a bellow of laughter. "Blue!" Exuberent bellow, a beam, and he leans over to Lesa. "You owe me, rider," he says in a serious tone. Then he receives payment. Mark is buffed, and he salutes. "Thank you muchly." It's pocketed, with a smug happiness around the 'hand. Yes -- much too much time around Jaryn. "Going for this.. ahh.. 'm.. interesting fellow?" Soulful peer at Tie.

Lhana grins, giving the little blue one a cute little headtilt. How pretty! Still crouching low - you've got to get on their level, after all - she holds out her scrap of wherry meat and watches it curiously. Who will this one go to? And when will that pretty sparkly egg hatch? A quick glance for that - nope, still not moving. And she continues grinning down at the funny blue one.

Reiko saunters to the Central Bowl.

Andressan goes home.

Daniri leads her flit, now dubbed 'Deskol,' away from the crowd to the side, a silly and joyous grin still lighting her face. As he finishes off the meat in her hands, she looks around. More meat! She needs more meat! Nothing else in her pockets. She spies an unattended bowl of meat and sneaks a piece out, hoping no one notices, and gives it to the ravenous bronze.

Euria squeals in delight, forgetting all about the meat and slamming her hands together. This time it doesn't get squished - it falls to the ground. Ewww...she picks it up, dusts it off as best as she can, and then goes back to dangling it. Mustn't be deterred!

Tierza says, "Oh Ly..we were right! And such a cute blue too, isn't he?" Yup, she is such a draw to the blues... Pippin attests to that at every chance he gets. "Are you sure you don't want him? I'll help you care for him.."

Fihall hopes his jerky is enough to compell the little blue to curiousity. Sure, not the most creative of foods, but at least he has something. He leans back, curling his legs beneath him and casts a rather rueful glance towards the cerulean hatchling.

Legolas stays still for the most part. Does he want three blues? Shrugging he wiggles the meat to the little blue. Not tring very hard since his two blues are chittering in protest at him. They think there is enough of that color on his shoulders but Lego doesn't look like he'd mind having yet anouther.

Daniri calls to Deskol, who flies over and lands on her shoulder.

Energetic Pup Blue Hatchling stomps and swirls, continuing to make his rounds. Oooo. Just a little of this if you dont mind? Hopeful glance up at someone in the crowd and morsel is tasted. Tail flicks out behind him in delight, and he continues. Oooh. What have we here? Meat? Meat could be good, yes. A tilt of his head and a blink before maw extends and meat is taken. Yum! Pittering-pattering ways continue as the hatchling makes his rounds rather quickly. And then..oooh! Ultra-sonic..what /was/ that noise? An inquisitive peer into one portion of the crowd and the pup..er..firelizard ambles off in that direction.

Deep Blue Sea Egg gives a teasing little shudder, as if jealous of the attention its sibling was taking from its own pretty shell. But it's just not time... a bit of a wait.

Deep Blue Sea Egg A frothing, whirling mass of aquamarine. Pools gather all throughout, eacha chaotic whirl of navy and peackock hues, the greater body of aquamarine floating as a languid background. Frothing tides of baby splurge and curl upwards, rounding the sides of the egg tip, while turquouise runs downwards alongside unseen rivulets. A pulling, inscecent and overwhelming seems to draw all colors to one point on the egg. Just below the very center do all of the whirlpools converge, and a single, teeming pool of wriggling emeraldine can be seen. The egg is very hard, and may hatch any time now.

Fihall makes one last attempt for the little blue, meet waggling like crazy, eyebrows following suit. Unfortunately he has.. eck.. chores..

Tierza says, "Ohhh, c'mon pup.. you can come this way.. See, Lynar would take good care of you..." Meaning? 'I would take good care of you'.. But that's okay, right? Her hand withdraws from her pouch, wherry juice dripping from pieces of fresh meat."Ohh, I guess you should pick for yourself, huh, Ly?"

Legolas glances back to the eggs, he's more interested in them then anouther blue flit. His seem to be happy that he is slowly losing interest in the littl blue flit. His eyes look at Fihall with somewhat of a laughter to them then they turn back to that orange egg. He really likes that...why tho?

Euria cranes her neck around. Where did that little blue one go? She was very interested in him...he was cute, and all that nice stuff. The woman grasps her meat in one hand, placing the other on someone's shoulder and using them as a brace. "Cummon...good blue...where are you?" Pout.

Lynar quietly observes. "He's a bit too.. blue.. for me, really, love." Sheepish grin. "I'm after a brown, really, actually." Officious nod. Y'know? He's, like -- observing, until a brown or green comes around. "Brown. Hopefully, the next one will be.. brown."

From Daniri's shoulder, Deskol croons as he watches his siblings hatch and attempt to hatch. He wants to go protect them...but no, he must protect this weak human! Still, can't hurt to keep an eye on them.

Nemesis suddenly disappears /between/.

Lhana continues grinning like an idiot, watching the cute little blue. She seems almost more content to simply watch him than offer him meat, however, as her little morsel is offered sort of limply now from the hand extending off of the knee she's leaning her arm on. What an adorable little guy!

Rianna slowly lifts herself up and runs her hands over her face. Wiping sand from her now wet cheeks, she simply sits there babbling incoherantly and clutching Lemon to herself. Squawking and squirming, Lemon tries to get more comfortable and comfort his human pet at the same time. Then, while Rianna pushes her hair back from her face, Lemon snatches up a piece of meat from the sand in front of them. He gobbles it up, having no problems with a bit of sand.

Energetic Pup Blue Hatchling ambles quicker now. Heeeeeeyyy..where did /you/ go? A confused creel is given and the hatchling is near sitting down in the middle of the beach before she is spotted. The meat too. That was a fun part, but she was more important. As if she didn't really know that! Scrambling almost too fast for over-sized feet to keep up, the hatchling skids in the sand, slipping and sliding before *bump*. Oof. Plainting tail-end on the ground the hatchling will blink up at Euria. Um..hi! Mind if I have some of that meat?

Energetic Pup Blue Hatchling's cries turn joyous, and he turns towards Euria, creeling piteously.

Daniri releases Deskol, who launches into the air.

Deep Blue Sea Egg quivers, luminescent blue shifting with the light as drops of rain sprinkle the ground around the Deep Blue Sea Egg. A quake from underneath stirs ivory white cracks to form, each jagged line connecting with another until the surface of the shell is littered with them. And as a succession of popping noises are heard, a hatchling tumbles from the shell.

Bubbly Brown Hatchling A multi-layered, multi-hued collection forms on his skinny frame. Rustic browns topple down his front half. Starting in a roll that surrounds his neck and splurges upwards to topple across the two small bumps that serve as his headknobs. Between bright gold eyes and down his pointed, angular maw. A flare of caramel rises, starting at the bottom half of his jaw to wind slowly down his chest, coating front limbs and shoulders in this hue. Darkening once more, as if splashed by a tin of dye is forest. Dark ridges of wood perfectly matching the folds of skin that sag alongside his bulging stomach. Upwards they rise, the forest changing to mohagany hues as wingsails are inevitably carressed in this loving embrace. Scorching almond soon topples from where forest left off, cascading across hindquarters and ebbing to a light trickle down the lengthy reach of his hind legs. Ebony, pure and inky in hue, are his talons. Primmed and pointed to near perfection, the tips showing white from the glossimer sheem that hangs about them. A long, winding tail is kissed in shades of chocolate, ranging from light to near black, while a splurge of light brown peeks at the tip of his spade-shaped tail tip.

Lynar bounces. He just -- bounces! "It's a brown!" Bubbling, he beams, and points. "His tail is klah-colored." That's what he wanted. Shocking! Meat is dug out, and proffered, eyes bright, position suddenly exuberant. Here, flizzenflizzenflizzen...

Tierza pokes Lynar and laughs.. "Look, you were right again! He's a beautiful hatchling, dear.. would he suit your needs in a brown?" Eyes shine as she watches his face glow and beam.

Euria continues to glance around those gathered, searching frantically for the blue. "Who impressed him?" She asks anxiously, only recieving a shrug in return. Suddenly she feels something hit her leg, and she stumbles back. "Eeek!" She squeals, clapping her hands in delight. "You're *here*!" Master of the obvious, she is. "Would you be wanting some meat, my little Pippin?"

Marcus blinks in from ::between::!

Lesa grins and she smiles seeing another new owner selected "Congradulations." she calls out to Euria. She hears another crack and spies a brown "My, but didn't he have us all fooled, sneaking out of his shell without a sound." she shifts position and then sees the pile of eggs slowly lower as each crumbles to sharling remains. "Good luck." she calls out to Lynar, hearing his want of a brown amongst all the other hopeful people.

Daniri smiles as the brown hatches, but her gaze switches back to her beautiful bronze. /No/thing is better than bronze Deskol!

Kela-ki is still screeching and muttering (the best one can whilst being a 'lizard) to herself about the audacity of someone sticking such an ugly blue in her--HER--clutch. Then...a realization. Wait, she didn't care about these thigns. And oh, look..the ugly thing has been carted away. Thank Faranth for that. What was next? Calming down and laying once more upon warming boulder, she eyes the newly hatched brown. Much, MUCH better then that blue. But still not as perfect as the bronze. Oh well. It was worthy enough to have been squeezed out of her.

Legolas watches the brown leave the egg. A bubbly flit...not his type. He needs a flirtish or a flit that will cause trouble with him. His eyes trace back to the orange egg and watch it steadily. Waiting for it to move or show some sign of life to it.

Lhana tilts her head sideways, watching the little blue find his match, before she becomes aware of a /new/ hatchling, and spins her head around to see that one so quickly that one of her long braids actually plops into the sand. She gives a loud cry as she notices this, and hurriedly grabs up the braid with the hand that /isn't/ holding juicy meat. She blows on the hair for a moment, trying to get any sand out quickly. The morsel in her other hand and the new brown hatchling are both forgotten for the moment.

Seumas oohs and starts shaking his spiderclaw at the brown."What a handsome fellow... " He seems to caress the leg and cracks it a bit more and the meat inside is revealed like a treasure chest breached by greedy hands.

Gwynna casts a look towards the latest hatchling and then a second look, a bit intrigued. Without thinking about it, she reaches for some meat again, as always ignoring the dripping juices released from the chunks by the pressures of her hand. "And he's not bronze, so you can't complain," she mutters at Kailyst, blissfully ignoring the fact that the firelizard can't understand her.

Bubbly Brown Hatchling erupts from his shell, scattering it to the very winds. HaHAH! You thought you had a wait, didn't you? He's a very surprising little fellow, this one is. Giving a triumphant croon, he trains his whirling reddish eyes upon the meat that was so... kindly offered of the humans. Chattering incessantly, he meanders away from his shards and the remaining eggs, toddling merrily along to inspect the first of the grandly offered foodstuffs.

Bohemian Orange Egg quivers! Sparks are going to fly! Egg shards crumble to the ground as the egg begins a frantinc swaying motion. Left..right..right..right..left..left..and then all is still. Is it the calm before the burst?

Tierza says, "Lynnie, he's you in lizard form!" See, he's cute and charming and bubbly.. "Oh, he's just /perfect/, really!"

Lynar turns and beams at Lesa. "If I Impress 'im, you get your mark back!" Grin. Leaning forwards, the lad nearly bounces. Bubblebubblebounce. Hophop. Jiggleness. Won't you be miiiiiiiiiiiine?

Deskol chirrups. His clutchmates are all hatching and heading out into the world! He must protect them! But will she let him...? Questioning gaze is directed t'wards Daniri as he hovers over the nest, watching them carefully.

Legolas lets a lopsided grin cross his face as he notices the Oragne egg moving. Finally. He watches the egg move. It seems to be dancing to a rythem of its own. Very interesting...he'll take that into thought.

Lesa chuckles "Sounds like a plan." she says to Lynar. Her gaze goes back to the new hatching egg "Maybe this one is a green?" she offers by way of guess.

Seumas glances over at the orange egg."Think that one's my favorite one..." He slouches most relaxedly almost bohemian in his sudden tiredness. He grins."My sister had a dress that color when she was little... I dumped it into the dye that turned it that color. He chuckles at the memory."She hated purple but liked orange..."

Lhana shakes the sand out of her braid to her current satisfaction and tosses it lightly back over her shoulder, where it should be safe for the moment. And then she looks around her. Oh, hatching - right. The brown is given a curious look, as well as the little orange egg, though she hasn't the patience for any of the eggs except her favorite. So she turns back to the brown, offering her meat and attempting to think Happy Thoughts. Smile, Lhana!

Gwynna watches with a bit of amusement, not bothering to do anything more than hold out her own offering. Forming an opinion of the brown, she smiles faintly. He's almost like a little toddler, he is. The thought is rather sobering to Gwyn, who *doesn't* need any more responsibilities of the child-like nature.

Kela-ki whirrs and finally raises a screech towards the first-hatched bronze, now hovering in the way. Move it! You're blockin' my view! Creeeeeel-chitter. Growl. She wanted to be entertained, dangit, and she couldn't do it with a fat body in the way. Not that she cared about the hatchings. No, secretly she was hoping a tunnelsnake or something would show and stirs things up a bit. Or better yet, a wherry. Lot's of action -then-. Loyalty towards her clutch? Phah. She wanted a -show-.

A strong nudge and squeel from Lemon makes Rianna look up. With Lemon flapping about her, she can't see anything, so she carefully moves the sand-coated meat and herself over and forward. Suddenly, the tears are gone as she sees that the pretty blue egg hatched. "Oh! Lemmie! It was so pretty!" Her voice whinny, Rianna takes the piece of meat her flit offers her and brushes sand off before eating it, and once more talking. "Ohhh! He's preddy! He's jusd as preddy as his egg!" With her meat in her lap, she does nothing more than sit there, watch and eat.

Deskol screeches at mother. She doesn't govern /him/ anymore, he must guard his brothers and sisters! Neverthless, he flutters out of the way, though he continues to stay high above and watch them. These big fleshy things had better not hurt any of his siblings, or he'll, he'll, he'll scratch them! Yes, that's it! No hurting the others or they'll learn a lesson!

Daniri smiles and wanders off.

Tierza says, "Maybe a green from the orange, but that brown has got to be yours, Ly. He's so.. you." A hug to the man at her side as she shoves meat into his hands.. "Here, give it to him or show him or whatever /you/ think he needs."

Bubbly Brown Hatchling spots an offering of a dead spiderclaw. What the... what the heck do you call /that/?! Stopping short, he stares a-gape at the disgusting creature. Forward... little bit at a time... forward. Reach out a talon-- poke. Poke. And a conincidence of the sand shifting makes the nasty thing -move-. CREEL! And away he goes, sand flying from his tripping paws as he moves as fast as he can from the ugly, dead-not so dead-beast. A good distance away, he turns and huffs in that direction. So there. He showed you! And onwards he goes, making sure that there weren't any spiderclaws along this side.

From Seumas' shoulder, KaD'argo somehow managed to snag a twig, his usual weapon. He croons in a rumble much hardened from months of battling trundlebugs and the occasional pesky tunnelsnake. He swears loyalty to the mother of the hatchlings, and swears to protect the eggs from the tunnelsnakes that would damage any and all of the little ones.

Lynar bubbles, bounces, and proffers. He obeys Tie, and wiggles meat, squirming in his spot. "C'mere." Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease? "We could have fun herdbeast tipping together!" He didn't just say that... really. "Doesn't this /smell/ good?" Beam. "And it's not spiderclaw. It's -- herdbeast! Wonderful, bloody, beautifully delicious fresh herdbeast."

Legolas knows whatever comes from that orange egg will believe in freedom, beauty, truth, and love. It shall up hold the Bohemian ways of thinking! Not to mention it will probably be the most beautiful flit ever hatched at High Reaches or on Pern for that matter. His eyes watch the egg carefully.

Seumas hmms quietly and pulls out some meat scraps, not spiderclaws... The uncle calls to Seumas and he rises to his feet, dropping the spiderclaws and the scraps like he really didn't want to be called back to the old man...

Bohemian Orange Egg quivers and quakes. Okay..so that first warning had been a dud. This egg was not that! Oh no! Flames gather and steadily streak upwards as the shell is hit by another tremor. A shake sends sand dribbling down the small nest the egg lay in. Something -was- going to happen!

Kela-ki gives the firelizard equivalent of a laugh as the brown skitters away from the spiderclaw. Now -this- was entertainment. Maybe the thing would trip on itself? Or, even better, run into a rock. Hopes high but interest slipping away, ever-watchful-but-never-caring gold lounges and waits.

Lhana giggles at the little brown's adventure with the spiderclaw. "Awww," she coos quietly to it, though it may not be able to hear her from this distance, "Did the wittle spiderclaw scawe you? Poor baby..." Then she melts her pouty look into a smile, and holds out her wherry meat for it. Not so much as a glance is afforded the shaking Bohemian Orange Egg - not till it hatches. The little hatchling is /so/ much more exciting.

Kindia saunders with an aura of grace and exhaustion, in from the Central Bowl.

Reiko saunters in from the Central Bowl.

Gwynna arches a brow as she spies the short drama with the spiderclaw and the gold's reaction, shaking her head. Now *there's* a precious lack of maternal instincts. Gwyn can't help but feel sorry for the little guy, slowly reaching out to offer the meat and some protection from the crueler things in life. Or something like that.\

Kindia wrestles an unruly kidlet into the fracas...or, rather, brings the fracas, being the unruly kidlet, to the lakeside. "I...told...you...we.../were/...watching...this!" She gasps, arms struggling to keep hold of a five turn, three foot menace.

Euria goes home.

Lesa watches the brown and grins "Before long, you'll be longer than that tasty tidbit." she offers helpfully. She shifts position again and then finds a sack against her back, now how in Pern did that get there. She opens it up and finds her healing supplies, ah, at least it's hers anyway. And then there's some dried wherry treats, which she gives one to Autumn on her shoulder absently.

Reiko returns at length with a skin of wine and a sandwich, keeping well away from the insanity that surrounds that nest. Or whatever it is. Must be a nest, with all those people thronging about it, half of whom she's never seen before. In any case, it's no concern of hers, and Cerdith has already begun wheedling. She holds up the sandwich in mute explanation (probably magnified by whatever unspoken exchange apparently occurs at this point) and drops heavily onto the sand. Food first, scrub later.

Rianna's eyes are quickly distracted from the brown by the orange egg. Having been partly hidden to her before, she looks at it carefully and giggle. Seeing another kid her age arrive she waves happily with a wild swinging arm. "Hihihi! Lookie the pretty eggs!" She screams, a bit too sharply even for her own ears.

Lynar wiggles his meat. Cough. That sounded.. bad. Anyhow. Jigglejigglejounce; he's as hyperactive as Laredo, before he suddenly settles in a deathlike stillness. "Maybe if I stay very very still he'll notice me." Insane logic -- but it's Lynnie, for cryin' out loud.

Seumas steps away for a moment to scrawl out a message to someone.

Bubbly Brown Hatchling prances along, soft little mutters of noise being emitted every now and then as he inspects all the things set out for him. As long as it wasn't spiderclaw... but hey? Were they laughing at him? Stopping, the reddish gaze is turned almost forlornly upon the group. Why burst his bubble? You wouldn't think it was funny if something that looked like /that/ was about your size and /moved/ after pretending to be dead. But he's not down for long! A hop, a skip and a bubbly chirp! Oh, oh, you, you! You'll do! You feel sorry for him! A happy chatter of noise and the happy little brown bounces on over to Gwynna, reaching out for the offering given only to him. You're such a dear...

Bubbly Brown Hatchling's cries turn joyous, and he turns towards Gwynna, creeling piteously.

Kindia sets the wrestling beast-child down onto a patch of grass, reaching into her apron pocket to withdraw a wrapped package, setting it into the kidlets outreached hands and shaking her head. "You /do/ remember what I told you, Phineas? Take that yummy-ummy wherry, and /don't/ eat it...if you hold it out, maybe the firelizards will come to you..." She reaches to swipe a runny nose, and groans. "But if you eat it, they might not want to, with your grubby hands all over it...would /you/ want to eat something covered in icky /germs/?" There. It's the nanny talking, and young Phineas darned better listen.

Lynar blinks, and shakes his head as if to clear it. "Yie. Maybe next time I won't stay.. so still?" He sighs, and shakes his head. "Congratulations," is called over to Gwynna.

Kela-ki chitters and leans back on her shoulders, relaxing and getting a slightly different view. This whole gathering was becoming routine now. Hatch, do something kinna-interesting, go creel off to somebody. Although, that spiderclaw bit was enough to keep her chuckling in her 'lizardy ways for a while now. And look! The oh-so-entertaining brown has found his match without much more mishap. Too bad. Things weren't over yet, and detached gold now peers towards the yet-hatched egg. It still had potential for amusement.

Lesa spies the brown choose and she grins "Congradulations." she offer Gwynna and her gaze goes back to the shaking eggs "Fardles, the next one's bound to be a green, right?" she asks.

Bohemian Orange Egg breaks open slowly, patterings of shells falling to the ground before the egg gives way, ends splitting open to leave the hatchling in plain view.

Hup-Hup-Hup One..two.. Army Cadet Blue Hatchling Bleu forming across his angular shaped head, tipping headknobs and ridges to fall across deep set amethyst eyes. Down his slender maw and rounding the pointed tip of his maw. Uninhibited rogue streaks of electric stir the somber coatings of prussian on his slender form. Each wrapping a delicate tendril around azurite, a melding of both hues to form a new one. Darkening as it carresses rounded shoulders and topples down to cover broad chest, a brilliant tip formed as the underside of the chest is reached. Stomach and legs are all coated in aquamarine, the sparkling brilliance of which is unmet by any lake or ocean found on Pern. Turqouise gathering in the deepest thicket, before currents catch and draw it outwards, slowly at first so that striated layers are reached. Down forelimbs it goes, only to surge upwards and caress a muscular stomach and dancing across and down hindquartes. Slate talons are matched, both front and back, the polished tips seeming to shine cerulean, perhaps a reflection of the hue found on translucent wingsails.

Phineas accepts the meat and curls pudgy fingers about it, contemplating the rich, juicy meat bits with hunger. But at the sharp look from above, he turns his eyes away and waves another pudgy hand toward the newly impressed. "Ooh...congrabutions!"

Lhana grins as the funny little brown one finds himself a match, and examines her wherry meat briefly. Hmmm. Using her other hand, she adjusts it until she's holding the bit by the other end. And then - oooh! A new hatchling. "Oooh," she squeals, "it's another blue! And a pretty one, too." Okay, so they're /all/ pretty. But the statement still stands.
