Want to improve your mark in History 44? Well, here's your chance! Alone or in cooperation with another student or two of History 44, no they do not have to in the same class, do one of the following projects by January 13, 2006th. You and your associates could get as many as 5 full marks added to your January final mark!
Develop a review sheet, exercise, set of notes, etc., that could be used by yourself and your classmates to prepare for the January exam. It could be study notes, guides, links to useful sites. It could contain graphics, charts, and other information. There could be practice questions, quizzes, anything at all that would be useful in preparing for the exam. It could be done on any one module of the first four we have covered.
Or, it could be done on any ONE topic within any module. Topics such as Jacques Cartier, the seigneurial system, the Royal Regime, the conquest, the Loyalists would all be good ideas.
This should be produced in an easily shareable form, preferably something that could be posted to the LHA History Society web site. HTML format or as a power Point presentation are good ideas.
Option B: The History 44 Game
Develop a game- board game, computer game, web game, dice or card game, quiz game - that deals with any aspect of our course from 1450 to the 1850's. While the game can have some elements of chance, it should be based on some knowledge of the topic and review the facts learned about the topic in class. The game should have a firm historical basis and could be accompanied by notes on the era.
For example:
The New World Game: Players are European merchants, rulers, church leaders in the era of explorations. They must finance a venture to the new world. There they must find ways of making money which will pay for their venture.
Fur Trade: Players form a company, get financing, travel to North America, deal with the Amerinds, all in an attempt to get rich.
Monsier le Seigneur: Players are Seigneurs in New France during the colonial era, 1660-1750. The must get their seigneurie, attract settlers, collect their taxes and rents, all in the hopes of becoming the envy of all other seigneurs.
Let's Conquer; Let's Defend: A two player/two team game. Each takes a side in the Seven Years War, 1756-63. The British side tries to conquer New France, the French side tries to defend it.
