Family Tree
When I started my family tree, I did not expect to find any ancestors outside of the United States. With the help of my maternal grandmother, I was able to trace our family back to Scotland. I have inputted twenty-seven generations already, I have recently found twenty-four more generations that will trace us back to Robert the Bruce, although, I have not yet entered this into my tree. I received most of my information from my maternal grandmother and every one else has been entered from memory. I found this research exciting and plan to continue to add new members and  new ancestors to my tree.
We have many Lords, Barons, and a few Earls within our tree. Many of these people were in famous battles, such as the battle of Flodden Field, where Baron Herries and King James IV were slain side by side in 1513. Robert the Bruce in the battle of Bannockburn. The second Lord of Terregles also a member of the Royal Court of Scotland; led one of Scotland's armies in an attempt to invade England but was captured.
Lord Maxwell led a force of 6,000 men to free Mary Queen of Scots and led her to the Herries Castle at Corrah. He hid her there for one night before she returned to England.
