From the pictures below, you might think Summer 2005 was really busy for me -- going to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Africa, and Malaysia; however, you'd be wrong!! I only had to go as far as the suburbs of Nagoya for EXPO (the World Exposition) to "visit" over 120 countries. Though far from authentic, you can't argue the convenience and savings! Of course, I didn't stick around Nagoya all summer. Along with Kyoto and Korea ("real" pictures below), I made it to a few other places as well. Details will follow...should I ever get around to sending out another update letter!!
Here I am in Seoul. I look happy, don't I? Do you think it has something to do with all the food? Maybe... What was so neat was they brought the table to you...with all the food already on it. And here I can barely manage to bring a dish to the dishwasher without breaking it!
If there is a board with a cut-out opening, my face is drawn to it!! Things like this cry out my name. I know, I need to stop listening!!! Left -- Kyoto Below -- the African pavilion at EXPO (maybe Ethiopia)...and here you thought it was difficult taking the boys for walks, Mother!
Above -- the Qatar pavilion at EXPO Below -- the Saudi pavilion at EXPO
Below -- the Malaysian pavilion at EXPO Note to self: It's probably not a good idea to stand next to, not just one, but two beautiful women...especially when not wearing any makeup with your hair pulled back under a baseball cap. Next time...
Above -- EXPO Hall (Izu...monster??) Right -- I took this picture when it struck me how ironic the scene was...women in traditional Japanese dress (kimono) waiting for the most modern of transportation (Linimo, a magnetically levitated train)
