| INITIAL POST: |
| Calling a Vote (3 of 3) - Adding Monthly IP Limit
by: ** COMMISSIONER ** (** COMMISSIONER **) Jul 21 12:37pm If the IP limit is changed to 1650, a monthly IP limit will be instituted at 1/6th of this limit (since there are 6 months in the season). Therefore the monthly limit should be 275. If the IP limit remains at 1450, then I vote to add a monthly limit at 1/6th of that Yearly limit. That monthly limit will be 242. In both situations, all teams' monthly performance will always be included for that month. Each team will compile the best stats under the IP limit and then, once the team reaches the IP limit, his team will no longer compile points. And so, if a team has an injured team in April, and wishes to make up all of those innings pitched in August for the yearly prize, all of the points accumulated in August will not be counted by pitchers beyond the IP limit. APPENDIX: Now that everyone has agreed to the general principle of a Monthly IP, WITH NO OBJECTIONS, I'd like to make this a more precise rule so that we get it right the first time. As many of you are aware (Matt, no doubt this is news to you) there aren't the same number of days in each month. April has 30 days May has 31 days July actually only has 28 baseball days (due to the all-star break) My modification is to make the IP limit a proper ratio to the number of days in that month. So, for this season (I think this may actually change from season to season, since sometimes teams begin playing in March and sometimes end in October) the Monthly IP's would have broke down as follows: *With the IP limit at 1450* April - 30 days - 16.6% - 241 IP May - 31 days - 17.2% - 250 IP June - 30 days - 16.6% - 241 IP July - 28 days (all-star break) - 15.8% - 227 IP August - 31 days - 17.2% - 250 IP September - 30 days - 16.6% - 241 IP TOTAL - 181 days - 100% - 1450 {NOTE: The percentages were roughly rounded so that the totals worked out} I think this change to the general rule is fair, and simple, and I hope it does not require a vote to make it so. If ANYONE for any reason objects to this format being put into the rule book, simply voice the objection and we will put it to a vote, in which case the 2/3rds majority vote is required for it to pass this way. But I seriously hope no one would object to a more precise rule. |
