Rex Matthews currently serves as the Editorial Director of the Society of Biblical Literature. In the contribution before us Rex offers the sentiment of a heart broken and at once open. Thanks to my friend for this intimate look at grief and its grave background.
Haiku: For Michael by Rex Matthews
Gentle, quiet man, Too soon you are gone from us. Your presence lingers.
Soft, cool, gray rain fell As we laid you in your grave. The world wept with us.
We feel grief and loss; Sorrow holds us. We miss you, For we loved you well.
We mourn your death, but Also celebrate your life. Your laughter warmed us.
Though you have left us, Our lives were touched by your smile. We will not forget.
You gave us your love; Its tender strength binds us all Close to each other. |
