Who You Are
So you have some desires; still, are those desires, you? Beneath desire you have thoughts; still, are those thoughts, you? Beneath thought you have feelings; still, are those feelings, you? You feel, think and crave relative to stuff, still, is any of that stuff, you?
You may suffer from countless woes yet none so dire as the reduction of yourself to some property supposed to be owned by the self. In time you come to believe that you are what you feel: think: crave: own.
Awareness of who you are absent your belief requires noticing, you are appreciably more than any sensation or reflection or aspiration. You are awareness apart from own self being.
Suspend all belief, all grief, then your own self, and notice what's left, what's not.
That declination proves expansive in practice. |
