The Bishop's Advice (For Robert E. Fannin)
So I go to meet with my bishop
For an ordained methodist cleric that's an occasion expectant
On leave for a year it's the right time to receive the kind invitation
Beyond the chat, I beg counsel
It's a given, I'm no churchman on behalf of organized belief
I have no grief, no apology to preach, yet a duty to gently reach justice
The counsel comes, sincere and sound
Teach where the skill is apt and be practical in its application
I know that's right, yet it helps to hear it from other side the skin |
