Mysticism VI: Promise
Notice in the newspaper that a cold front's coming, that shelters runneth over with persons housed, as a rule, on the streets of the city; no mention of churches opening wide the heart, keeping on the heat, welcoming in the homeless
How did such a rule take hold in a city of religious orders? Why would a church dare close sacred space to the destitute? Who's to be held accountable for such a desecration?
Hard questions that haunt the soul, disturb the body hallowed, and in my heart I have answers, I know my part in it; besides, no newspaper can ever tell the whole story, not enough room
In the meantime, in this very moment, people no different from you and me are cold, hungry, and alone |
