Methodism
If your tradition teaches salvation through faith alone, how dare you expect respect from those who strive hard and high to grow in spirit? What are you to do?
Notice an aspect neglected, not just within protesting communities, to wit, the shroud of your tradition, vows monkish, methodical: Obedience. Poverty. Abstinence.
These habits of the heart prepare a way for a humble fervor for spirit, a fever human wrapped in flames divine. You may fall short of this, yet any less is cheap grace.
Now what of the claim that Jesus is the way, the only way? The One Way dwells at the depths of all wisdom traditions: Be Born Anew, Grow In Spirit, Serve Others.
So faith's a verb, not a noun. All deep faith knows this. Apart from grace, you cannot go to heaven; apart from noticing, heaven could come to you and you'd not know.
The way to heaven is to grow an appetite for it. Spend time in the wilderness of your days; prepare a space in the void of your body, mind and soul for spirit to breathe.
Then you will know the deepest truth of all, faith's a gift of grace, too. All Is Grace. Grace Is All. Awareness makes the singular difference in The Coming of Justice. |
