Intentions

High rule of monk
hood, medicine too,
Ahimsa: Do No Harm

When you brush your teeth
to keep from losing them
you kill microbes by the many

When you scrub the counter
to keep away the ants
you do not kill ant stragglers

You make some noise
that forewarns them
and they scatter

Jain logic knows the difference,
intent's the key to ahimsa, not
outcome

Is any One
ever responsible
for any result
with the variables
so numerous
so various
so unpredictable?

Is everyone doing
the best possible
all things considered?

Who can consider
everything?  Is that not
The Human Fault?
