How you sort out eugenics
presents nature, nurture
with a choice and challenge
not unlike the brave preference
to inch out of the slimy swamps
onto dry land, fated to stand, so
to reach evolution's fruit
Once standing, clarity abounds:
nature, nurture, not-two;
so someone must stand up
for the soul
of the brain-deficient other
whose inefficient life
completes the integral
Intelligence rises
from the veritable void
to take shape
in forms various,
to make music
sweet and delighting,
if often notorious
So mind your manners
and dare not to discount
the injustices of this world,
for apart from their lesson
what would be known
of compassion, not to mention
mistakes to grow on
