Act

Before you open the mouth to utter a word
of comfort to another in need, rest assured
that silence, no speech, may make for holy
utterance when spoken with perfect intent.

No word, no work, is blessed apart from
constant movement toward spirit.  Silence
prepares a way in the wilderness for deed.

Just so, each act, every feat comes perfect
from the seedbed of a calm that whispers
the depths of The Hush That Never Ends.

In the wake of that expanse, through no act
of self-being, you are made humble in word
and deed and life's work.  As a will not your
own lives within, you live without for others.

Could you do otherwise?  Would you?
