LOCAL TEACHER EVALUATION SYSTEM
I currently work for the Antelope Valley Union High School District in their Regional Occupational Program. I have been instructing in Information Technology for three years, in which I have been formally evaluated verbally. I currently have been researching to see if their is a written evaluation for vocational teachers at the center other than an administrator scheduling a class visit to evaluate the teacher then meet with them on their performance when observed. This is done once a year and kept on record. In order to complete this assignment fully, I was told that the state might have a teacher evaluating for vocational instructors and will inquire to receive one. They will also check with the District for such a form directed at vocational educators. Being in the military, I am used to being directly consoled on my job performance by a board and in writing. This has helped me greatly to correct myself and guide me on performance factors that I do well. I have consulted with the administration on this and was told that this system is in place for full-time instructors and will be considered to be in place soon for part-time instructors. I have attached a copy of Antelope Valley High School's Classroom Observation form that I feel should be used as a guideline for the future R.O.P Teacher Evaluation form. It presents the teacher with information on what what covered, along with strengths and weaknesses observed.
