| e-Buisness News Don't upgrade a FREE Yahoo web site if it's from GeoCities. Why? They can mess up your business way down the road and when you are least expecting it. This site is paid for each month and NOT a FREE Site at all. How do I know these things? Learning the hard way is sometimes the best teacher. We started 40 web sites as a group of people just trying to make ends meet. We wanted to get into e-business for a long time. We have been in a long time as it seems. But when you least expect it something grows and it becomes a good thing to do. In the case of site 07 or AmICheese.com - which was a one time a fun little highshchool project, on AOL and later GeoCities, that turned successful and worthy of becoming and e-business. So we upgraded and slowly moved away from FREE web sites. About 18 months after we did that Yahoo gets a wild hair and decides to kill us and it. They had the nerve to accuse us of SPAMING and we NEVER EVER Have since 1996. We did use a few services to broadcast links but it was not at all considered spaming by any means at all. This was all before the laws changes too. It has rouined our effort and the site as far as we are concerned. "NO" - we said and we still complied with all their heartless requests. Based on false information and lies, they held their ground. And today we are proud to say that it's moving to a new home and a great new company for web hosting. We still like Yahoo, but some of their services are not good. Yahoo Services is one bad apple (and we shout it from the roof tops). THUMBS DOWN Yahoo Web Hosting is a number 1 operation and it's got class. THUMBS UP We also suggest anyone serious about building consider what we now have a policy. Don't upgrade a GeoCities site - Start a FRESH new one. Stay away from pitalls. Best of luck and great successes to all, Greg |
