Authority
Authority describes prestige, reputation and influence which you reach beacause of your personality and the dignity of your position. For us authority means to respect somebody without having fear.You have to distinguish between authorithy and authoritarian behavior. Authoritarian behavior means to oppress and control other people.
Authority is important for the learning process in your life. In some cases people need a person, who personifies authority so that social processes can happen. A policeman could not do his job without having authority. But it has to be a voluntary concession. The authority of a person should be based on acceptance. It is just the same with parents and their children. Parents do not oppress their children (should not) but have an speciall position, which permite them to make dessions for their kids without their agreement. This authority is helpful both children and parents.
For us the pope personifies authority.
