AUTHORITIES

Define your concept of authorities

A person who makes decisions for others. To have authority is be able to make people do things for you. For example a teacher who gives homework. A judge or an employer who has authority over her/his employees.

Police:

Personal experience: a guy rides his bike at Amarbrogade in Copenhagen. He’s got no lights on the bike. A police car pulls over on the other side of the road. The man on the bike stops. He dismounts and pulls his bike to the car, knocks on the window and says. I’m sorry, i haven’t got any lights on. How much is the fine? To which the officer answers that’s alright. As long as you pull your bike the rest of the way. The man thanks the officer. Pulls his bike for about 200 m. locks it and goes to his destination point. The moral: he’s 200 m from home, but instead of going for it, trying to "cheat" the officer-whom, by the way, didn’t even stop him-he stops to pay a 500kr fine.

Many people in our country have a lot of respect for the Danish police force because we have been raised by our parents to respect them. The police have the power to arrest you and even worse to put something on your record.
