Winning pitcher Craig Hollingsworth helped his own
cause with two homeruns and threw a two hitter in the mercy rule shortened
victory. Dave Tolles also hit two homeruns and Trevor Corkey hit one homerun.
Kurt Clark started for Battersea and delivered the only two hits given up by
Hollingsworth. Chris Switzer came on in relief.

In a battle of the top two teams in the league, the
Cowboys used a two out two RBI double to right field by Jeff Hannah to take the
lead in the fifth inning. North Fred opened the scoring in the first inning
when Bryan Brooks hit a sacrifice fly to centre field to score Pat Severin, who
had singled and moved to third on a throwing error. The Cowboys responded in
the second inning when Jamie Purdon delivered a single up the middle to score
Ryan Sharpe, who had doubled to left centre to start the inning. In the fifth
inning, Kevin Buchan led off with a single and pinch runner Tim Ferguson came
into the game. Purdon then singled to right field and both runners moved up a
base on an error. Hannah then followed two outs later with his double. The
Cowboys tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning. Jon Swaine led off the
inning with a single and moved to third on a double by Sharpe. Doug Kane then
hit a sacrifice fly to score Swaine and Purdon followed with his third single of
the game to score Sharpe.

The Cowboys struck for two runs in the opening
inning. Jeff Hannah drew a lead off walk and moved to second on a sacrifice
bunt by Tim Murphy. After a passed ball moved Hannah to third and a walk to Jon
Swaine, starting pitcher Ryan Sharpe hit into a fielder's choice to score
Hannah. Craig Pearce followed with a double to left field that scored Sharpe
from first base to make the score 2-0. The Cowboys added a run in the third
inning when Murphy singled and then scored on a single by Sharpe that led to a
throwing error. Murphy was able to score from first base on the play.
Enterprise rallied in the fifth inning, scoring twice and having a man thrown
out at the plate. Dale Dowdell led off the inning with his second single of the
game and was replaced by pinch runner Albert Jelley. After an out, Andy Brown
reached base on an error to put runners at first and second. John Hayes then
followed with a single up the middle that scored Jelley. Lyle Brown followed
with a double to right field that scored Brown. Hayes was thrown out at the
plate. Enterprise managed a runner in each of the sixth and seventh innings but
could not push a run across.
