Intro New Zealand has some of the best sailors in the league. Their team is based in Auckland the team head is Ross Blackman, the skipper is Dean Barker who supports his team 100%, their budget is amassive 32 Million USD. The Story Team New Zealand suffered a hammer blow weeks after becoming the first syndicate to successfully defend the Cup outside of America in 2000. Skipper Russell Coutts and tactician Brad Butterworth failed in the Swiss Alinghi Challenge. The team were also hit hard by the murder of Sir Peter Blake (Sir Peter Blake was murdered on a jungle trek in south Africa ), New Zealand icon and mastermind of their 1995 and 2000 Cup triumphs . |

The Americas Cup
In the Americas cup the Neo Zealand team will be sailing in their vessel the hula.
The America's Cup is driven by money, passion and fervour, but principally money, and it is in the generation of this that the latest problems have arisen.
It was when the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron became the trustee holder of
the Cup in 1995 that the troubles began. The Kiwis turned a profit, some of
which was channelled into the defence of the Cup by Team New Zealand.

When they are in decision making mode the umpire ‘’in Vivo’’ will be at the
back of the boat where each team has put a protection bar. The umpire will not
replace the 17th man position. Five umpires will be rotated through being on
board a race boat and umpire boat.
The teams think it’s a great concept. “We think it’s a great thing and have always been in favor of having umpires o board to take away some of the uncertainty,” said Chris Dickson.
