- Daughter of Wilhelm & Katharina (geb. Reis) Freihaut of Biblis.
- Valentine and Katharina arrived in America on the ship J.H. Cooper
with children on 20 Jul 1846 at the Port of New Orleans. They settled in
St. Louis, MO. but later moved to Minnesota in the 1850's. Valentine and
Katharina are buried in Old St. Mark cemetery at Shakopee, MN, USA.
Note: To mark 150 years of the Reis family in America, Barbara J. Post &
Raymond H. Reis, S.J., along with editors Carolyn A. Woods and Richard V.
Reis, published a very nice book "150 Years In America - The Reis Family
History".

- Barthel Reis #591 (1824-1870) ancestors
- Barthel remained single, moving from St. Louis to Minnesota with his
parents. He was buried in Old St. Mark cemetery, Shakopee, MN, USA.
- Valentin Reis #636 (1825-1892) descendants ancestors
- Valentin married Josephine Apfeld in 1853 in St. Louis (a double wedding
with brothers marrying sisters!). The couple moved to Shakopee, MN,
where the remaining eight of their ten children were born. In the
1870's, they moved to Belleville, IL.
- Elisabth (1827-1828)
- Johann Reis #613 (1829-1908) descendants ancestors
- Johann married Constantia Apfeld in 1853 in St. Louis (second part of
the double wedding of brothers marrying sisters). This couple also
moved to Shakopee, MN, where all of their seven children were born.
Johann's descendants remained in Minnesota.
- Anna Maria Reis (1830-1830)
- Michael Reis #630 (1831-1908) descendants ancestors married
- Apollonia Eberle #816 (1831-1895) descendants ancestors who came to
America with her father Georg Eberle #122 (1801- ) ancestors and
step-mother Anna Maria Reis #578 (1810- ) and family. Michael married
Apollonia in 1856 and later moved to Belleville, IL in 1862. The
marriage produced seven children. He and his brother Heinrich started
the H & M Lumber Company in 1866. Michael also entered politics,
becoming first an Alderman and then mayor of Belleville. Michael and
Apollonia are buried in Belleville, IL.
- Elisabeth Reis #597 (1834-1846) ancestors
- Elisabeth was born in Biblis and died in St. Louis in Oct 1846.
- Katharina Reis #619 (1835-1914) ancestors
- Katharina moved with her family to Shakopee, MN, where she
remained single. She is buried in Shakopee.
- totgeboren (stillborn child) 4 Jun 1837, Biblis.
- Heinrich Reis #604 (1839-1911) descendants ancestors married Elisabeth
- Kiesel (Kissel?) in 1866. (Biblis records do not show an Elis. Kissel
born 31 Aug 1845). They moved to Shakopee, MN and then back to Belleville,
IL where he and Michael ran the H & M Lumber Co. Heinrich and Elisabeth
had 13 children, three of which died young. They are buried in Belleville,
IL.
- Anna Maria Reis #581 (1841-1922) descendants ancestors married Charles Stark
- in 1862 in Shakopee, MN. They had five children, two of which married.
The family remained in Minnesota. Anna maria & Charles are buried in
Shakopee.
- Barbara Reis #589 (1843-1910) ancestors married widower Henry
- Busch, the father of three sons in Shakopee, MN. They had no children.
They are buried in Jordan, MN.
- Magdalena Reis (9 Aug 1845 - 3 Sep 1845) Biblis.
- George Reis (1847-1907) descendants ancestors was born in St. Louis,
- the only child born in America. He moved with his family to Shakopee,
but eventually moved to Belleville, IL, where he married Appolonia Karr
in 1879. They had six children.
