Heinrich and Christina and family lived in Evansville (per U.S. Census). Not much is known
about them yet. Heinrich was an older brother to Johann Kissel #420 and Katharina (Kissel)
Kercher #424. Heinrich and Christina are buried in Section 9 of St. Joseph Cemetery on
Mesker Park Dr. in Evansville, IN

Records from Holy Trinity Church, Evansville, IN, say that Henry Kissel, son of Henry
Kissel and Christina Werr, married Elizabeth Hartlin (sic) 26 Nov 1863. (Her parents not
given.) This Elizabeth Hartlin turns out to be Elisabeth Hertling #821 (1832-1867). Henry
and Elisabeth had three children before she died in 1867. She was buried in (old) St. Joseph
Cemetery on Garvin St. in Evansville. Henry married Margaret Schaeffer in May 1868 and
they had two children before Henry died in 1874. Henry and Margaret are buried side by
side in St. Joseph Cemetery on Mesker Park Drive in the Heinrich Kissel Sr. family plot.
After the new St. Joseph Cemetery opened in 1872, those buried in old St. Joe were exhumed
and reburied in the new St. Joe. In 1879, the remains of Elisabeth (Hertling) Kissel were
reburied along the north side of the road in Section 8 of the new St. Joe Cemetery. The
relative positions of the tombstones can be seen by clicking the 'Tombstones' above.
