Josef Bauer's book says:   "Vermutlich ist die Familie ohne Heinrich um 
1846 nach Amerika".  New Orleans is probably the port of entry but is 
yet to be verified.

According to Josef Bauer's book, Heinrich was the father of Anna Maria 
STRAUB (1842-1896).  Heinrich migrated to America and married Sophia 
Beckerle #029* in St. Louis, MO on 5 Apr 1847.  He was listed in the 
Missouri 1850 federal census having Sophia, age 30, as his wife and 
having Eva, 20, Elisabeth, 16, and Bart, 12, as boarders.
* Right now it looks very much like Sophie was #029 from Biblis, as her 
ages on the various censuses match.

Josef Bauer's book says the Freihauts migrated in 1846; one of the 
censuses had Bart saying 1848. This discrepancy can most likely be 
explained.
It's been told by family members that during some of his youthful years, 
Bart was a riverboat gambler. He once shot a man and had to jump ship 
close to Carlinville, Illinois. 
He married Helen Engel on 23 Oct 1862.  She died 14 Aug 1866. Bart then 
married Helena Mees on 8 Jun 1867.  As he matured, he became a respon-
sible husband and loving father.* Bart and Helena ran a tavern/grocery 
store at 3rd & Gratiot Sts, close to the Poplar Street Bridge in St. 
Louis City.  He fathered 2 children with Helen Engel, both of whom died 
as infants and fathered 13 more children with Helena Mees.  Bart & 
Helena are buried in St. Louis.
* Apparently, Bart had the gift of healing minor ailments.  People would 
come to him for prayer; he would pray for them and they would be healed!
