Son of Philipp Bender (geb. circa. 1795, teacher and organist) and Apollonia
   Herbert (1796-1857) of Biblis.

Wife: Katharina Berg #042 (1824-1888) Descendants 
     Dau. of Friedrich and Kleopa (geb. Ritzert)Berg from Bensheim (near Biblis).

The Benders came to America in 1865, locating in Vanderburgh County, Ind.  Their
   children included three from August's first marriage to the widow Katharina
   Marsch (dau. of Johann Adam and Katharina (geb. Freihaut) Beckerle: 
   Philipp *24.08.1848, Johann *28.12.1849, and Katharina * 16.11.1851, along
   with three children from August's second marriage: Friedrich August *20.09.1885,
   Barthel *20.08.1858, and Valentin *06.11.1863.  Henry, their last child was 
   born in America (Vanderburgh Co., Ind) 04.02.1866.    

August farmed and raised cattle in Vanderburgh Co. He and Katharina are 
   buried in St. Joseph Cemetery, Vanderburgh Co., Ind.

Philipp Bender #040 Descendants 
and wife Elizabeth are listed in Armstrong township, Vanderburgh Co,
   in the 1900 census with three children. Burial place not yet found.

Johann Bender #038 Descendants 
is listed as a border with his bother Philipp's household in the 1900
   census.  He is buried in St. Joseph Cemetery, Evansville, IN.

Katharina Bender #039 Descendants 
married Henry Will of Poseyville, Ind. They are
 buried in St. Francis cemetery, near Poseyville, Ind.

Fred (Friedrich August) Bender #037 Descendants 
died at Mt. carmel, Illinois.

Barthel Bender #036 (1858-1914) Descendants 
and his wife Anna (1865-1915) farmed in Vanderburgh Co.
   and are buried in St. Joseph Cemetery, Vanderburgh Co., Ind.

   Ludwig Bender (1862-1862) Died at 8 months in Biblis. 

Valentine Bender #041 (1863-    ) Descendants 
 moved to Posey County (Smith township)
in 1888 after his mother's death and bought land near the Robb township line.
He improved the land for farming and raising livestock for sale.  He married
Theresa Will in 1886.   Valentine and Theresa are buried in St.Francis
cemetery, near Poseyville, IN.
