Coalition Against the Use of LFA Sonar
A recent study by Sean Golden at the University of Columbia has shown that when plankton are exposed to low frequency sound at levels above 175 dBs for more than a few minutes, they can die or be severly injured. The 175 dB threshhold for injury is less than the Navy's 180 dB LFAS, meaning that this will kill plankton that are exposed to the source for more than a few minutes. 2/12/04
