HOME ON MY SHELF TORI AMOS BJRK CORNWALL 2000
Imagine a dark rainy afternoon with nothing to do and plenty of timeYou think that's boring? Nooooooooooo, at least it does not have to be

How about making it yourself comfortable on the sofa with a nice mug of hot tea and a reeeeeeeeally GOOD story?maybe you even decide on one by Barbara Wood...

Well, she has turned quite a lot of boring afternoons into a great pleasure for me: In her books she does not simply tell stories but takes you on a trip through different countries, cultures and centuries that she can describe in such an exciting way you mostly feel like becoming part of it.
One of the reasons her writing is so convincing is - I think - that she tours the countries she writes about and gets her information by talking to "true people" there to create credible fictional characters or "somehow-basing-on-real-persons-characters" ;-).

What I find interesting about these novels is the more of them you read the more parallels you become aware of and sometimes even characters from one book (re)occur in another one.

Anyway, it's beyond my talents to write about B's books as interesting as they are written by her so I won't give summaries here but only give you guys a link to B's own homepage where you can find about all information. I can highly recommend this site to anyone out there who loves her books and/or has questions about anythingyes, she REALLY does check her messages there!

So, now I hope next time it's raining you won't complain about the weather but maybe join Barbara on a journey to Egypt, Kenia, South America . . .

I recently created a FAQs page for those of you who quickly need information about Barbara. I carried it all together from her own message board ...so have a look if you want...
