| Who is Leyla? | ||||||||||
| Leyla is a young muslim transsexual woman. She was born and raised in Central Europe, having among her ancestors a wide range of people from various ethnic and religious backgrounds. Although educated in a more or less secular way religion and God were always important to her. In her teens she decided to revert to Islam, a faith full of beauty. At roughly the same time she also started facing her transgenderism. From early childhood days on she felt that she should have been a girl, although doctors, teachers, parents and peers told her that she was a boy. She could never accept that and suffered from a feeling of "being in the wrong body". Because some people told her that transgenderism and transsexuality were against Islam and God`s order she tried to suppress her true feelings, forced herself to "be male". It never really worked out on her, it always seemed "fake", like a bad role play. Even friends noticed it. And what was even worse: This also brought her far away from Islam. Only when she started to do research on transgender muslims and to accept herself she could start to be a true Muslim. Since then she has come much closer to be a good believer in Islam and a servant of God then ever before in her life. Alhamdulillah! This experience was totally in accordance with the saying of our noble Prophet (s.a.s.): "Know yourself and you will know your Lord!" She is currently working on "transitioning" (starting to live fully female), while at the same time studying Cultural Anthropology at the university. Leyla is very interested to discuss with you transgenderism and Islam. However, she will only accept discussion partners who really read her webpages and thought about it. Abuses, threatenings or other mails with similar non-islamic contents will be ingnored by her. She is willing to learn, as long as you are, too! Contact her at: |
